Straight Razor Repair

Greetings all!

I had a very nice pair of Thiers-Issard razors. One morning I dropped one of them and this is what happened:

Is this something that can be repaired? If so, any recommendations as to who might be able to do it?

Many thanks!

That really sucks man, such a weird thing to happen!
If you could find someone near you capable of precision welding, since that area does not need to be tempered, it could be done. Someone very good at TIG should be able to do it while keeping the blade cool. The advantage here is that you only need a few little beads of weld, since it doesn't need to be super high strength. That may entail removing and re-pinning the scales.

I'm not sure about glues, as there is not much surface area there.

Another option would be to contact Thiers, and see if they can do anything about it, or perhaps give you a discount on a new one.... might be cheaper than a welder with much less risk.

Thanks gadgetgeek,

I had purchased the pair a long time ago and was shocked to find out how much they cost now!

There's a guy in Vegas I send my razors to get repaired. Not sure if this can be fixed, but I think his website or google "madaspenhome".
