Yeah, I like it. I made a straight razor once (nowhere near as detailed as yours) and sold it to a hair dresser / knife collector who uses it in her shop every day.

I assume that you used tool steel?

I like it !!! I made one last year, forged it from 5160 and cut a buffalo horn handle. It was one of the first items I sold at the Blade Show. The file work is a nice touch;)

I think these would sell if more were made. The units that come from Germany and France are all there are on the higher end and they get more then a fair sum for the work. With the new steels and S/S Damascus, some really nice pieces should be able to be made. What ever they make, make it better. There are two or three people here that could add these to there bag of tricks.

Be well

I like it and the way some razors are priced, I would rather have your custom than a production. I use a strait razor so I would probably use it, the filework is very nice, she probably cust like a dream.

Actually I have a fetish for straight razors - however, I really prefer a tool steel with a high polish - they will take and hold a better edge, period. Something like 01 or A2, give it a nice mirror polish like this one. The filework is really nice and the one thing I am always creepy about is cleaning/ oiling the pivot on an old razor with a celluloid handle. I'm afraid i am going to delaminate them and i know next to nothing about the celluloid except the material does not like sunlight a whole lot.

Really nice work, man, good show!

I'm a straight razor user myself and have been hunting someone to make some blades for me. What's the blade width on that piece? Did you stick with the static 3.5 ratio? Looks flat ground (nothing WRONG with that it's much more durable that way) but full hollow ground is much more common for non-barber users because they are easier to sharpen.

As FWO suggested the SS and damascus alloys out there offer lots of possibility but remember here guys...stainless is harder to hone but keeps an edge better. High carbon steels are the most popular materials for razors because the softer material hones easier for those of us who actually use these razors...

Back on topic...beautiful work here TAD. Simply marvelous. If you ever think you can tackle a precision full hollow ground razor I'd be willing to pick one up...and I know where you could sell plenty more if they came out well.
