Straight razors and knives - similar for sharpening?

Is it recommended that the same tools I use for sharpening my straights the 1k, 4k, 8k drill be used for my knives? thanks!

you can use them but an edge as sharp as a razor will not hold up very well under normal use as you might know so i would go with some coarse grit (up to 400 and finished off on a strop) wetordry sandpaper on glass instead.

I have sharpened some of my pocket knives on water stones up to 12K with great results. With very light strokes at 12K there is no burr that needs to be stropped off. I was able to get the same hair popping edges as with my straights, but didnt try shaving with. I think you would be pleased.
