Anybody out there use straight-razors to shave?

I would love to get a good set and start up. Currently, I'm sporting a beard (not much unlike the pic under my name :D ) and have to shave just the lower patches on my neck. I only shave once a week to keep it trimmed.

Would it be easier, better, or even just funner if I was using a straight-razor? (well-sharpened, of course  )

Your thoughts?

Dan

I have a straight razor, and have a beard, just like you. I also use it for trimming the edges. A straight razor is the ultimate test of your self-confidence - will you cut that jugular or not? :D
Seriously, you get a very close shave indeed, and you will experience less cuts, if you do it right. It takes about a month or so to learn the technique.
See http://razorcentral.tripod.com for info.

Razor? I just use my Spyderco Calypso Junior Liteweight.

If you insist on using a straight razor you might want to look at antique stores and antique flea markets. I've found lots of top quality classic straight razors for around $20-$30.
