I'm a novice knife repairer and have an 13" Italian switchblade with the bayonet style blade on my bench. The last 1/3rd of the tip of the blade, from the bayo "cut" is slightly curved and I'd like to straighten it out. Can anybody tell me the procedure for this kind of repair?

I'm looking for metric drill rod or equiv mild or soft steel that I can use to make my own blade pivot pins for stiletto style knives. Size I'm looking for but can't find a source for is .105 to .108" diameter. Does anybody know of a source?

What steel is it? If you know the steel and heat treat, heat the blade to tempering temp or a little under temp, stick blade in vise with round wood dowles on eigther side of concave bend, one on the other side in the convex bend and crank the vise down till the blade is straight. May have to over bend a little but it works and I have more sucess this way. Still a good way to break blades if there too hard. Heating to tempering temp means you don't break quite as many blades.
