There was a thread a couple days ago where a fella mentioned using a need blaster to straighten a warped blade. I will say I was skeptical of this working. Well, I can say that it works on an 8" gyuto with a slight bend. It was 3/32 and hardened to 61. I marked out the area I wanted to straighten on the concave, or hollow, side. I took it slow as it doesn't take much. I think I understand how it works. Im assuming that the blasting media acts as a bunch of little ball peen hammers and it stretches the metal. Im not sure it would work as well with thicker and shorter blades but most of us don't have problems with those. Anyway, give it a try next time and see how it works. Thanks to Jesenius for sharing this tip!

? You blasted the hollow "concave" side or the convex side to straighten?

Interesting. Were you holding the blade in the cabinet or letting it rest on the grates?

I was holding it and yes I blasted the concave side. Apparently it stretches the surface steel making it push back straight.

i was gonna say, laminated steel is straightened on a wood stump with brass hammer
I grab a stool and some scotch and bring my patience with me :-)

You are welcome. On Czech knife forum we've tested this method on thicker blades (at least 4 mm thick) and works well. This idea is from there. Unfortunately in Czech & Slovak language. But if You'll send question in english probably it will be responded.
