Strange Brass Butt

What's the deal with the butt on this knife? Other than 45 stamped into the end of the pommel there is no indication as to maker. Any thoughts? Thank you!

It looks like 46 to me? With no stamp maybe a sterile knife or one hand made by someone?

Looks like a theatre knife to me. With the plexiglass spacers. Theatre knives are generally military knives hand made in theatre. WWI and WWII are most of the examples I’ve seen. Some with impressive construction made by Navy machinists and others a bit more rudimentary. Google it. There’s some fascinating history out there about them. Really fascinating items!
