Hey, what do you guys make of this:

I've been looking for a 120 for quite a while now. Is that sheath an old factory thing? What's that all about? What's the funny hook at the bottom?

Seems like an awfully heavy (weight) sheath for a 120. Ever seen anything like this?

Well, let me take a stab at it. It's a Bianchi sheath for military use and I would guess that the hook at the bottom is for attaching the sheath to a larger piece of equipment. I don't think the sheath is made for the 119 specifically.

You are on the right road. The sheath is not for this knife. The hook is the sheath half of a wire cutter. The knife that this sheath is made for would have a hole in the blade the same shape as the lug that you can see just above the hook. The lug goes through the blade to form a scissors like wire cutter. See the current US bayonet. It has this feature.

It looks like the older style sheath for the US M9 Bayonet. Will is right. The hook is a wirecutter.

Yep, it is a Phrobis III M9 scabbard. It is a USGI contract piece, not a Buck commercial, as denoted by the lack of a safety stop on the wire cutter plate.

It looks like you get a nice 120 with a bayonet sheath to boot. I checked and although a 120 fits into the 188 sheath, it does have side to side movement.
Good luck on the auction!

Fascinating. I'm going to pass on the auction, though. I knew you guys would figure it out. ;) Thanks.
