Strange CASE XX Tang Stamp ID Question

I have recently acquired a pocket/folding knife with an unusual stamp. The stamp on both blades reads CASE & SONS BRADFORD PA. I am having trouble locating information on this particular stamping. The closest I got was W.R.CASE & SONS BRADFORD PA. I would like to stress that the tang stamp in question does not have "W.R." in front of "CASE" on either blade. The knife itself is jigged green bone w/worm groove, looks like very well made knife although very old. Is it a knockoff? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It is the " Official Price Guide to Collector Knives" Mine is the 15th edition by C. Houston Price and Mark D. Zalesky.

Thanks Stich, alas they do not make mention of my particular stamp. Thanks, got the info from smokin :)

You couldn't provide some pictures, could you?

Put pics on BR Levine,s sub-forum and you may be able to find out if it is authentic. Case is one of the most counterfeited brands.--KV

Some pics would help. It is possible the stamp & knife are genuine. I've noticed most or all of the published references to Case's stamps over the decades are usually not fully complete. There were lots of subtle variations over the years (same with other makers like Buck, Queen and others, I'm sure). Case has, at times, produced limited runs or special editions with unique stamps that varied from the standard. They still do this in their 'CASE XX SELECT' line today.

But, no way to know without some clear & close-up pictures.

I actually found the stamp ref in one of my books, in fact Case did make knives with a CASE & SONS BRADFORD PA stamp. The book states that they are pre-1920... I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how to upload them (still a noob here).

An easy way is to sign up for a free photo-hosting account with photobucket, imageshack, etc. For photobucket (I use them), upload the pics to their site, then look for the 'IMG code' URL in the list of four options to the right of each photo you view there (it'll be the 4th option, at the bottom of the list). If you click on the URL in the 'IMG code' box, it'll be automatically copied, after which you can paste the URL into your post here.

Thanks Dave, here goes...

That is a good-lookin' knife, for sure. The long matchstriker pull on the main (spear) blade is a very nice touch. No idea of the specific pattern, but I'm seeing one in my guide that may be similar, a 6214 Jack pattern (3-3/8"). Googling for this pattern # seems to turn up lots of later knives from 1940 - '64, and those all appear to have a regular nail nick on the spear, instead of the long pull. Case didn't start stamping pattern numbers on knives until after 1949 (according to my guide), so it may be tough to specifically pin it down. There's also a 6214 1/2 version, with a main clip blade instead of the spear. I'd think it'd be worth posting pics in Bernard Levine's sub-forum here; maybe he can shed some light on it.

Very nice!
