....well a good friend sends me an email, he saw this one for sale and needs help, not sure what he has in front of the computer

so I did a quick search on google and it comes out it's for sale at Ali*** (not sure I can post the name...) , famous chinese site for fake CRKs, Hinderers, Striders and the like... ( :foot::thumbdn::mad: )
I'd like to know if anyone has ever seen the "real deal" of this one, it looks a bit of a Strider and DDR to me, haven't found anything about "KO" (or K0, KD...)

they state it's Ti and D2...for 75$ (..........), sold on a local used knives website for the double (...) no description other than "custom D2 knife.."

I like the design actually, seems well finished and stonewashed, with a steel insert and LBS for very little cash (won't buy it not to finance these fakers...)

so watcha think and what could it be "inspired" from? half DDR and half Strider or a real maker? thanks for the help folks!
cheers

Looks like a knock-off of some Ken Onion knife, with some Hinderer and Strider mixed in.

$75 for Ti and D2...you get what you pay for.

It looks like a mix of several designs to me, so it is probably their own. But if that is solid Titanium, I'll eat a cow paddy pie. I might go for Titanium coated, maybe.

I have seen one knife of this. It is real titanium and chinese analog of D2. The steel was hard enough to scratch glass. There is tanto version of these knives. And another different KO knives with full flat grind and leaf shape blade for $45.99. It has a more simple look and also titanium and chinese D2 with proper heat treat.

I want to see steel chemistry, and Rockwell figures, by a testing lab whose provenance I can verify.

This is the Internet, after all.

It's very similar to a district 9. I asked about it over in the Chinese brands fan page and no one heard about it, someone emailed me and said they were made by the same people as district 9 and they were sold in Russia. They are real Ti, not the same grade as the US Ti locks. The D2 is by GB.

Isn't there a guy lurking around our forums with a machine that can breakdown the chemical comp. of steel? If I am remembering wrong, feel free to call me senile at 19, but if he does exist, we could do a multi-person chip in to get one sent to said person and settle this debate for next to nothing from us. I would love to see a cheap Chinese knife with high-end production/custom materials at mid-end prices. I could get a few of these if they are real... but I am not willing to throw out that much cash on a total mystery.

I own one, called a District 9 and bought it on a lark, off the bay from a U.S. vendor and cheap but it is a very well made knife and I ain't kiddin. And it ain't a ti coating on the slabs, mine reads T4 alloy for what that is worth and the machining is impeccable. Blade grinds on the blade itself are crisp, sharp and perfectly matched and it is razor sharp. The blade reads VG10 and frankly I can believe it as it seems comparable to any VG10 blade I own. Take it for it what it is worth. It is a good knife. keepem sharp

PS paid less for it though, and as I understand it is a Kevin made knife which in some circles means something. I will say the machining and fit and finish is beyond reproach though.

Longbow would you mind shooting me an email with details on that knife? I searched on ebay and came back with... well nothing. I somehow doubt you would have anything to gain from lying, so I figure this knife could be something to look into.

TC4 is Chinese 6AL-4V, how are they not the same grade?
Inexpensive, high quality, Chinese made knife? Just buy a Spyderco Tenacious.

Yeah but you're not potentially getting D2 and a Titanium frame lock.
At the very very worst you're at least getting 8Cr13MoV and steel frame lock.

It's in Russian though. As far as I can tell these were a limited run.

I'd say, if you like the design, then go for it. And it doesn't appear to be a knockoff, counterfeit, or copy, so in a way, you're discouraging people from copying, and supporting originality and innovation.

I removed your link to the Google search results. You're very close to deal spotting which is against the rules. Your post was like 2nd hand smoke....not as bad as actually smoking but still not good. :p

Please refrain from linking to non-paid dealer sites....especially ones known for selling blatant knockoff and counterfeit knives.

Thanks!

I am not a big expert on Chinese fakes, but if I am reading it correctly, "KO" is not the same brand as District 9. If it is sold on ALI, in my experience it is probably a rip off of the district 9 knife. I take no chances ordering anything from that site, or anything that could come from that site through a second party. You just never know what you will get.

EDIT: On another note, the knife in the video actually looks like a very well made knife, and I really like the design. It would be awesome if you could get a good quality knife with great materials for a quarter of the price. Though it is hard not to like the design when it is clearly influences by a lot of other popular models. I did a little research on that fake selling Chinese site under "district 9" and surprisingly there was only one listing, when usually there are about 20+. It was listed under district 9, but the photo's shows it saying "KO" on the handle. That leads me to believe it is a knockoff of the district 9 knife. The one thing that makes me believe different is the fact there was only one seller, selling it. Which means it isn't a mass produced fake in china, and possibly not a rip off. Sorry for the contradicting statements, but I wanted to show both sides of my opinion for whoever is interested. For $75 bucks, it isn't that much of a risk to check it out.

Yeah but the District 9 was originally sold on Aliexpress, so that must've been a ripoff of something else too.
It is not the site itself to not trust, it is the sellers, make sure that you buy from a seller that has much positive feedback, I have ordered
five different times from a seller that I saw had good reputation and five times I knew exactly what I would get as I ordered.

That is good to know, because they do have some good prices on different things. I haven't personally talked to anyone that has had a good experience with them.

What I gather is that the original district 9 wasn't a rip off, since it isn't an exact copy. Although it is borderline IMO since it is clearly strongly influenced in design. I wonder if the KO is made by a different company, then it would be a rip off of a semi rip off lol. It could very well be the same company just marketing it under a different name, since the first one didn't sell well. It happens all the time, just not usually in the knife world.
