Hi gang,

I measured my FFFBM and according to the bussecollector (http://www.bussecollector.com/catalog) it should be 0.32 inches (8.13 mm) thick. But it ain't! It is exactly 0.276 inches (7 mm). So now I am starting to wonder what kind of a beast I got.

Any information that may solve the conundrum is much appreciated.

If you can't get a pic just describe it please.

Color of slabs and blade?

You tell me what it is ...:)

Thanks. It was sold as Fat Fusion Battle Mistress - Urban gray, blue/red magnum G-10, just digged it from an old thread. The question is why it is "only" 7mm thick. Or this is how it is supposed to be?

+1

Looks like a normal (F)FFBM to me too.
Are you using calipers to measure it?

No. I am using the scale of the Victorinox SwissCard but it is impossible that I am that far from the target, i.e. FAT F BM is supposed to be 0.32 inches = 8.128 mm. while I get on different parts of the blade exactly 7 mm (0.276 inches).

Edit to add:
Also, as a confirmation I measured my A1, that I know is supposed to be 6 mm and get exactly 6mm.

Well the only saber grind .27 FBMs I know of are 2007 SEs. They go for about $1,000.

FFBMs are under $500.... so you did OK:thumbup: :p

.

If it's really .27ish thick... it's an odd one for sure.

I've never heard of or seen any like it before.

It may fetch a bit of a premium, but not really sure these days.

Also, with the 2008 FBM SEs being .27" thick, not sure what that would do to the pricing on yours.

Edit to add: Thanks Tony... forgot about the 07 SEs

and I have 2 of them too. :o

Very well. Now I can go to sleep like a happy man :)

Edit to add. Since it is my only Busse I have no intention of selling it at least until I find something that I like even more.

2008 Flat grind
2007 Saber

I only have one of each :grumpy:

although it appears it is not what you intended to purchase, i agree your abherrant mistress is quite a find.

yours is nearly identical to the thickness of the fbmle, right guys?

so you've got a better chopper (per the extra weight) than the cgfbm (.25"), yet an easier to carry blade than the ffbm.

and no cbt's to boot!! (i dont really like em.)

what makes this knife even more interesting is that if you remove the coating it is actually thinner than an SE. The coatings add about 0.015 inches, so that would make this one closer to 0.26. Very interesting, I wonder if anyone else got FFBM's colored like this one. All mine were 0.32, but there may have been one or two that came out like this. Definitely unusual.

Don't worry. Tony has plenty of strange mistresses too.
