Strange post on profile page - Spam?

Not sure how to contact Moderators for such but this seemed odd.

"TCoop My name is Sgt. Cooper with the Cocoa Beach Police Department. Can you please give me a call at 321-863-9408. I need your assistance. To verify my information and employment the phone number for the Cocoa Beach Police Department is 321-868-3251 (Communications)."

A quick Google search shows that there is a Sgt Thomas Cooper with the Cocoa Beach police department (as of last year at least) and that 321-868-3251 is CBDP phone number. That number should be safe to call to verify but I would not call the other number.

I can't fathom a reason why a FL cop would reach out to someone in OR through a relatively anonymous medium such as BladeForums. If they had the knowledge of who you actually were and needed your help, I would think a phone call, email, letter, or a local PD stopping by would be a much easier way to get in touch with you.

Right under the profile message there is a Report button. While threads in Tech certainly work, that would be the quickest way bring it to a mods attention. I went ahead and sent one with a link to this thread.

This very strange.

If the police want to get ahold of you, they usually call your home or work or stop by. They don't drop in on a forum, randomly. If you get more messages like this let me know and we can see what is really going on. In the mean time, ignore it.
