Venus now appears as planet Earth's brilliant morning star standing above the eastern horizon before dawn. For most, the silvery celestial beacon rose in a close pairing with an old crescent Moon on February 26.

this telescopic snapshot of the dueling crescents was captured just before the occultation began under an afternoon's crystal clear skies from Yunnan Province, China. The unforgettable scene was easily visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.

Its going to be visible during daytime hours on clear skies. One has to look for a little white dot on a clear day in the sky west of the sun.

 Cool photo and brings to mind how small we really are compared to our surroundings/Solar System, in this neighborhood we call the Universe.

This reminds me of times I was sitting around outside and took out my binoculars to see the moon better. People walking by were surprised the moon was out. They didn't realize it was ever visible in daylight.

But in New York City, there isn't that much sky visible! :)

Same as in california, we have open air but it is clogged with smog
Beautiful picture though. I'd love to fall asleep.to that image in the grass.

Wow! Great post sir. I am going to look this up and find more. Thanks for sharing.

My nearest darksky park for serious telescope viewing is the Torrance Barrens near Bala, On ... which is very closeby. I have quite a wonderful view of the stars here at home and draw upon my early constellation lessons ... and more learning as I go to appreciate the world above me!

Thanks for a strong visual that speaks to me of our small presence in a limitless existence.
Susan
