this one is a few weeks old .. but i only just got a picture taken of it .. and thought i would post it up.
:)

once again .. high carbon, nickel silver fittings, the wood spacers are beefwood .. and the blue bits are deer antler. :D
there is vine file work on the spine .. but you cant really see that.

its really snug in the hand... and extremely sharp.
when i took it to show a friend it managed to slowly stab its way through my backpack and stab me in the back... just from the motion from my walking.
it was wrapped in three sheets of foam and several layers of pretty thick cloth... :D

what do you think?
weird looking enough?

im thinking of finishing a dagger i am working on in a similar way .. maybe bright purple in colour tho :D.

like they say
"to each their own..."
:D
im just glad you liked at least one of them.

Yep it's weird alright. But it is also cool as hell. It shows that there is a nasty little imagination lurkin' around inside that noggin of yours. Shows a great deal of talent too. I agree with Mr. Jones, show us more. Kinda reminds me of some stuff by Virgil Englund. Pretty in an unsettling and sinister sort of way. Good fantasy fighter IMO.

I like it Dementia,
How did you get the color in the pattern like that if you dont mind saying?

Gouge ~

the handle is deer antler, which i polished up to a mirror finish .. and then when it was totally cleaned up i used some penetrative leather dye with a narrow brush ..
loading the brush with a lot of the dye and then dabbing the brush to the antler .. the dye ran (making the circles) but eventually it would seep into the antler and remain as the coloured circles.

i went over the same circle a few times like this to bring out the pattern well enough to present itself.

then i just sealed the handle in order to make sure the dye wouldnt rub off onto hands that got to play with the blade.

Thanks for the quick reply I really like the colorful stuff lately, I think I am getting to "too many black Knives syndrome"

P.S where are My Banksia pods? Just kidding Dion.

:D i found a nice little cache of banksia nuts out in the bushland behind our property ... (theres some 100+ acres out there thats pretty much untouched)

now i just have to wait until they are suitable for handles.

different ... i have a lot that are 'different' :D .. just have to get around to taking pics of them.

more to come in the next few days.
promise.
