Strangest thing you've sharpened?

The title says it all.

For my part, it was potato peelers when I got the sharpmaker. I've also sharpened the edge of a quarter, out of sheer boredom.

Anyone?

Thanks for the idea, man.:)

Pizza cutter;)

Needless to say, it didn't work as well as planned...hmm..but I haven't tried it with my new Lansky yet.

18 inch stick of steel used to hang store shelves to the wall. Now it has four teeth at the end for poking, and a 4-5 inch sharpened section for slashing. I also gave it a cordwrapped handle.

It's hard work, sharpening that sucker. I need to sharpen the rest of it.

I've also sharpened a hammer. No, not the pounding end. I sharpened the prying end so that it can slide into skulls um, I mean cans of paint, more easily.

This is all just for the fun of sharpening, of course. I'm not a crazy mofo. :D

It's not really that strange I guess but if you would be watching me, it might have been. I sharpened a 54" Viking sword on my sharpmaker. It took forever :)

Sharpening a claw hammer....that's a new one. :D
That's what I love about large forums. No matter how strange I am, there's always at least ONE person who dwarfs anything I've done.

Regards all.

I sharpened the top hooks of the sear from a Colt Combat Commander .45 auto, using my Sharpmaker, in-order to make the trigger-pull alittle more crisp.

Injector nozzles for jet turbine engines. More polish than sharpen, the edges of the nozzles had to be smooth and sharp so that the fuel dispersion into the turbine firing chamber was even and fine, without gaps in the 'spray/fog.'

I KNEW we would get a country boy response here at some point! You would be surprised the things you sharpen for the variety of things you do in veterinary medicine. Large animal medicine is by far the most fun when it comes to cutting stuff. Trocars, trephines, hoof knives, saws, REALLY large needles, and of course a good necropsy knife are all common instruments. Oooohhh! I entirely forgot dehorning instruments! Fun stuff!

Kinda sorta fondly remembering large animal medicine...

P.S. I'll give a shiny virtual nickel to whomever can tell me what the stitch is called that Mr. Fowler is alluding to.

I sharpened a tomahawk for a lady friend of mine who throws semi-professional for one of those balck powder rendezvous groups. I thought it would be fun.

Then I watched her practice. What appeared to be a quaint anachronistic artifact turned into a very leathal guided missile. Since that observation, I always buy her cookies and tell her how pretty she looks!

Every 2 weeks I sharpen a probe tip for my mother. She is a hog grader at a plant here. The probe tip looks like a small arrowhead, is made of stainless steel and is double edged. Most of the time I grab the end with locking pliers and run it down my sharpmaker, but once in a while when I have my sharpenign stones out I sharpen the probe tip that way.

The actual probe is a large contraption... kinda neat that it starts at such a small, pointy part!
