I love finding some weird multi tools.... show me some of your favorits.....

Show me some of yours , you can find a number of mine by looking at my previous posts . If you show me some of yours and surprise me with some strange ones then I might put up more of mine .

I have one built around a tiny pocket-sized hammer. It's an Eddie Bauer imprint multitool I got several years ago as a gift. It is the only such tool I have ever seen where the tools fold into the handle of the very small hammer. My apologies, but no pictures.

http://www.ukoutdoorstore.co.uk/sogcomp/switchpl_lg.gif[/URL] that one has some intresting design
http://www.chwhite.btinternet.co.uk/assets/images/topeakalienrx.jpg
what doesnt this one have

It does not have lots of things . Interesting that you chose the Topeak alien RX , one of the lesser tools that Topeak made . It has something like 16 tool functions . Now the Alien DX has 27 tool functions . It can be seen at ;

http://www.topeak.com/products/tool_alien_lead.html

Or go find a Topeak McGuyver , it has 33 functions ;

These are in a class that would apropriately be called bicycle multi tools , there is a slew of others made by such makers as Blackburn , Schwinn , Trek , some have distinct features such as chain retainers , adjustable wrenches , tire levers .

Now here you did find some interesting variations of a type of tool that was commonly made in post WWII Germany . Most often these are found with only the hammer,hatchet,pliers/tongs , screwdriver/pry bar . The knife and corkscrew make the ones that you found unusual .

This is a home made version of a tool that was commercialy made by Diamond , also under the Kabar stamp and I think I have seen other makers .

Yes , it is an interesting design , lets see if you can describe some of its functions . Consider that this tool was made likely from the 1880's until the early 1900's .

Do a THOROUGH search on the subject of multi tool hammers and all variations on that theme such as multitool hammer , multi purpose hammer , multi function hammer .

Also try using search engines with language translation services such as alta vista .

Youngster , I have been collecting multi tools since before you were a twinkle in your fathers eye . I have multis that have functions such as shovels ,

The Walther jungle tool

Other multis that I have have features such as crossbows , bow and arrow , slingshots , hatchets , blowgun. Now it is your turn again .

Can you find something very unusual ?

BTW ; the word strangest is spelled s t r a n g e s t not strangist and it is favorites not favorits . Also it is design not desing .

Hehe. :cool:

Well, the strangest one I've found so far is one I got via e-bay last week. Never seen it or it's design before.
Pics are here: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/share/view?i=EeANGjFk4atnDgw&open=1&x=1&sm=1&sl=0
Lonediver, I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction to ID it?
Also, I followed an auction for one of those multi-hammers at the same time. It went for over £1000! :eek:

Finally, I followed Lonediver's links. Had a lot of fun, and learned some stuff too. Thanks! :cool:

Yes, it's an odd one all right. It 'feels' almost like a prototype rather than a production item. Of course I tried Googling for it, but with a name like 'professional', you can imagine how many hits I got! :D
I'd love to find out who made it, and why they opted for those shears.

Freezergeezer,

I believe that you will find that your tool resembles a model made by Fiskar called the Excalibur . It is not in current production , I believe that yours is of chinese manufacture a copy of the original tool .

I had a friend of mine bid on the hammer tool that you spoke of for me as I was out of town without access to a computer . His name is bstchce . I came in fourth place with a bid of 400 pounds ( approximately 900 US ) . I wanted that tool , I saw that our other friend here , jooliesews also bid on that auction coming in sixth place . here is that auction .

I am happy that my links have entertained you . Feel free to email me .
