I've got a Streamlight Stylus. I like it for certain things but where in the blazing heck does one buy AAAA batteries?

Radio Shack would be my first thought.
They have them near me.
Botach Tactical also has them on-line.

I have found them at stores like Office Depot / Staples and such. I think some of the laser pointers use them.

Just got one for free from our police equipment rep. Bright enough to clear a room by.

Apparently, if you break open on of the 9V batteries - smoke alarm type - some are made with 6AAAA cells inside...

Just what I heard...

SOA! I just had to test that and you are dead right!
I've just torn open a 9V Energizer Alkaline 6LR61 and, literally, out fell 6 AAAA batteries. Cool! The soft metal casing peeled apart with a Leatherman's pliers.
They aren't even soldered or fixed together, the case merely holds them in position with a contact pressure plate above and below. They have the proper terminals and are individually insulated. One thing putting me off the streamlight was finding batteries, but this is a real bonus.

Keep in mind that the ones you pull from a 9V aren't always perfectly round. They tend to have odd imperfections that can lodge them in your Stylus. Just a head's up.

Zardoz,

glad to be of help... I really rate the stylus.

Tim, thanks for the heads-up on that [by the way, you've got mail from Steve, I hope]

I've never had a problem with them being out of round but I HAVE had a problem with them being too short. Every brand of 9v is a little different and you might end up having to make a spacer to take up the slack.

I like my Stylus. If you get one, make sure you order the accessory glare guard. Streamlight advertises it for narrowing the beam but it works great for protecting the LED. It is easy on - easy off.

I found mine at Long's Drugs--I don't know if you guys have them on the mainland, but they're like a little Wal-Mart. This guy that came to do a demo at work needed some for his laser pointer, but Circuit City--the same place he bought the pointer from--didn't have it. He was extremely happy when I gave him a couple. Don't look in the normal battery section, check out the camera battery area, oftentimes it's behind a counter somewhere.
