Wow, just a while after I've been using/playing with my Streamlight Scorpion, I ventured to their web site and looked at their new items! I've wanted a light like the Surefire M6 or 12PM, something with some extra brightness - 500 lumens! But the $300.00 price tag of the M6 (270.00 from Botach) and the 18 minute run time of the lithium batteries keep me back. Streamlight measures their brightness in candlepower, and list the Scorpion at 6500 CP. The new UltraStinger comes in at 75,000 CP with a run time of 1 hour! Uses a 6v 1.8 amp hour NiCad sub-C rechargeable battery. They've even announced the BatonLite, a 3 led flashlight made of machined aluminum with an unbreakable lexan lens! The flashlight will run for 12 hours on 3 N alkaline batteries! Now that's a nice little flashlight/kubotan! No pricing was available at their web site. http://www.streamlight.com

Hiya Hank,

I guess you flashlight talk here, too, eh?

I guess you found the info regarding the Ultra-Stinger. Anyone post a reply yet regarding the new SureFire Nitrolon 'Commander' yet?

The US looks like a simple add-on head/lens assembly. It will work on the regular Stinger, I'm guessing, because the reg. stinger and super stinger use the same bulb.

Hi YeeDude! I guess the increase in CP is due to focusing the light of the UltraStinger. I don't know if that's really what I'm looking for. I'd need to see some pics of the lights at like 6 feet and 20 feet to get a real idea. Streamlight's web site lists an optional Ultrahead upgrade to the SuperStinger, so Dano's right on with that one! I'm looking forward to your review, Sky. Botach has the Nitrolon Commander at $79.99!

I've looked into this. As far as I'm aware, there is no flashlight of similar size that can match the SureFire M6 in terms of light output and beam quality.
I'm sure there are spot/searchlights what can beat it on depth penitration due to their larger reflecters, but these add bulk, and are not as portable whereas the M6 can be easily carried on your person. I have yet to see any light match the beam quality of SureFire. But then I've never seen a MaxaBeam or other high-end searchlight. I've read that StreamLight beams are not a patch on SureFire, and the flashlights are far more bulky. Although the Scorpion comes close, and is a fine flashlight by all acounts, it's not good enough for me.

Runtime is not really an issue for me. I can carry spare DL123As no trouble. Far more easy than carrying D cells!

Shouldn't the SureFire 8NX have the same beam quality etc as the regular 8X? So I'm very interested in the build quality etc of the Nitrolon.
Is the Bezel a LockOut version?
Is the charger a rapid or overnight charger? How does the 8NX feel?
Is it much lighter than the 8X?
How easy is it to grip etc?

I have not received the Surefire Nitrolon 8nx
that i ordered from Botach. This was ordered on 11-27.They have not even shipped yet!
Yes,i know their reputation but ordered anyway.
Sky

Sky, are you sure that your 8NX has not even been shipped yet? I ordered mine from Botach on Dec. 1 and they sent me a receipt and a UPS tracking number which shows it arriving tomorrow.

I have had problems with Botach before and I know that others have as well, but for $79.00 for a 110 Lumen rechargeable and two batteries with a smart charger, I was willing to take my chances. Incidentally, now that the sale is over I think the price is back up to $96.00.

Anyway, I sure hope that mine comes tomorrow as scheduled and I wish you luck in getting yours soon as well. Too bad Botach can't get their act together and ship products right away.

Keep us posted on what happens with your order and I will post when I get mine and give a quick review of it.

That's ok, Sky, I joined you and Bucky! I ordered one from Botach as well. Mine was supposed to ship Friday, since they printed the label on Monday! That's what the customer service (yeah, right, like you get that from Botach!) guy said. Too bad it didn't ship like the guy said! But like Bucky said, 79.00 for 110 lumens!

Hank

Hank & Buckey-I cancelled my Botach order on the 8nx(i also ordered a leatherman pulse & 2 photons),but i have no patience for their terrible customer service,so i cancelled the whole order.I hope you guys have better luck with them.Post your results and
opinions of the 8nx Surelight.
I did get my M6 from them for $270 a few
months ago,so i still have toys to play with.Enjoy your holidays.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties. That kind of worries me because I was thinking of trying to squeeze a late order in before Christmas for a 12B and a Spares Carrier - I don't know if I can count on it being here before Christmas though.

Well, my 8NX did not come today as scheduled by UPS; although it could very well have had to do more with the 14"+ of snow we got and less to do problems within the control of UPS - but with UPS you never know.

Barring any more weather related delays and/or any more unreliable, faulty delivery predictions by UPS - it SHOULD be here tomorrow. I know I said that before, but it should really be here tomorrow. As soon as I get it a review will be forthcoming.

Sorry about your situation Sky, what exactly was the problem with your order?

us know how the 8nx works out.
