Been eyeballing the Perrin Street Beat for a while now. What are your thoughts on it? I really like the design, but I would like to hear from people who have owned/used/carried one. Thanks.

Adam

Just buy it.The design is 100% you wont regret it.
I would offer more information but I haven't slept in three days and I'm lazy.
Here's some porn to help you a long with your decision.

The Street Beat is a great little fixed blade. The micarta handle is sculptured, which shows the grain beautifully while making it more comfortable to grip.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. Guess I'm in the market for a Perrin Street Beat!

Beautiful blade, my edc since i bought it. Only gripe is the handle is too smooth in my opinion, wouldn't want to rely solely on the finger choil if ever i would have to use it so i stuck a piece of skateboard tape on one side, kinda ruined the aesthetics. : )

Not only is the grip sculptured, but the slaps are hand fitted to the tang. A very finely made production knife.

What's the texture like on the micarta? Grippy exposed fabric, or smooth?
Smooth, but sculptured. Between the choil and the palm swells and heel rests sculpted into the scales, your hand is locked into the knife and the grip is very secure.

Do any of you happen to carry this knife in a pocket? I really love the design aesthetically, but I've never carried a fixed blade before as they don't seem as... low profile I guess. I like smaller knives that I forget are there, and I don't wear the clothes with the largest of pockets, or the lengthiest of slack.

Though in thinking about it, I'm not sure if they're legal to carry concealed here in NC?

Anyway thanks for any responses

Anyone have a StreetBeat with another spyderco knife to get an idea of size and scale? Please.

Top to bottom White Goddard from Spyderco, next one diwn the Street Beat, next the Cold Steel Double Agent Kerambit and the new FG Endura at the bottom, all very nice knives in their own way.

Old image so the quality is not wonderful BUT I hope it helps!

Better shots from last year...........:D

The non-Spyderco ones are genuine Fred Perrins accumulated over the last 18 months, I have a long way to go before I'm happy with this collection.............clockwise from the top, Perrin with CF handles, ditto with Cocobolo handles, ditto with Grey/Blue Micarta and finally Light Blue G-10...........apart from the Grey/Blue all are Drop Point blades ala Perrin with the former having a Modified Tanto blade.

The two Spyderco collabs are, of course, the Street Beat on the bottom, the one that started me off with my Perrin obsession and diagonally across the group, what is commonly called the Green Perrin that was on VERY limited distribution albeit I have seen a number offered recently for VERY decent prices.

A nice shot of both the Street Beat and the Tanto Blade.............
