Hey there

How good are the sales for these two models ? Can we hope for a sprint coming out in a near future ?

Id be in in a heartbeat for a zdp damascus clad Streetbeat with cf handles, same goes for a Police 3...

Haven't heard of any Sprints being planned for those 2 models at all. Both are still in production as far as I know.

Usually Sprints are done with past discontinued models for the most part. I would love a Streetbeat in a newer/better blade steel like XHP, M390 or any number of the newer supersteels out there. I would also love a Spyderedged Streetbeat as well.

I do also very much like the new Police 3 in the G-10 handle. Sometime in the next year I'm going to try to get one in PE and one in SE>> and the SE especially before it becomes extinct.

Guy i hear you, i feel hardpressed to snatch a SE Police 3 but this year was quite expensive knife wise, im glad i picked up a PPT and a Zulu before knowing about the disco list, but i was quite affraid that they would disco the Police 3 for 2013 or at least the SE version.

Im feeling a bit like you about the relative demise of the Spydie edge and just like you i would like to see a SE Streetbeat.

Im quite sure we wont ever see cpm or cts based steel on japanese made Spydies unfortunately but one can dream, S90V with polished CF would make it a grail knife that i would still use no regards about the resale price or rarity of said sprintrun !

Speaking about the Syder edge i just think that they should revert the grinding side to the right side as it clearly slices much better that way for right handers the exact same way as seen on Jap kitchen cutlery, im quite sad that the near majority of serrated edges manufacturer chose the look factor over performance when it comes for grind side on said edges.

By the way im eager to replace my Santoku and Utility, do you know when the new "pro culinaire" set up is going to be released? Will they offer a SE version ?

Yeah I hear you on the Santoku>> I also loved the K-04 & K-05 models in the kitchen line of culinary Spyders. As far as getting a premium edge on serrated Spyders I'm still having the greatest of luck simiply using the Spyderco 701 Profiles to sharpen them with. It does take some time to do them with that tool but you can do each individual scallop and spike set to get every millimeter of cutting edge completely honed. Now what I do on the opposite side is to just make sure it is properly deburred. Deburring is very much overlooked in all metalworking and machinists even make the most fundamental of errors by ignoring the deburring of an edge. I usually give all my Spyderedges a good thorough deburring before stropping.

We may see the Police 3 in SE for at least another 2 to 3 years because from what I'm told they actually sell quite a few of that model along with the Endura SE. I think a lot of people are just simply apprehensive about change or something different that they don't understand. I'm kind of that way with anything dealing with computers myself just as an example.

But I do want to see at least one more fixed blade ( outdoor fixed blade) in Spyderedge. I still think the perfect set up would be to redo the Temperance 1 model in H-1 steel in SE & PE. That would be an outdoorsman's dream set for sure.

As far as the entire Spyderedged world>> I doubt if we see it go completely extinct in the near future>> but who knows I've seen a lot of weird happenings in the past 5 years or so.

Spyderco's Police model along with the Harpy are truly their premier flagship blades. I just wish they would offer up the Harpy in different handle materials and blade steels in due time.
