Well I screwed up cutting my G10 for my handle, and now I don't have enough to make the handle. I didn't really like how it worked and I'll probably only use it for the rear spacer that holds the springs for now anyway. I'm trying to decide wether I should order some stabilized hardwood, or just rip my own scales and finish them with a good coat of epoxy. The question is, will wooden scales be strong enough to hold a pocket clip on if the screw holes are drilled and tapped? If I use raw wood it will be something hard like cherry, maple, ebony, or somehting else I can find at woodcraft.
Antoher idea I'm thinking about is making the scales half and half. Either G10 on one side and wood on the other, or a split going lengthwise across the handle fromk the pivot end to the butt end. Either way I would make it with 410SS liners and could set it up so that the clip screws go into G10.
Or I may not put the clip on this knife at all, I ground a little to much away on the tang and the tip of the blade can come out of the handle just a little bit which would make pocket carry kind of dangerous unless its tip down and your careful about putting it in your pocket. So it may be better off to carry this one in a belt pouch.
What do you guys think? Any other ideas? Thanks a lot.
