Stretch 2 - Need Help

I sold my other stretch 2 in VG-10 to get one in ZDP. The one I have now has vertical and horizontal bladeplay out of the box, the other one did not have this problem. It also does not have a smooth opening because of a 'half stop'. The tang is not fully covered by the lockbar as you can see in the pictures.

Should I send it back to the dealer, or Spyderco? None of my other FRN spydies have ever had this problem and I have owned at least 6 of them. Maybe I'm just being picky.

I own a total of 4 Stretch's and one has ZDP-189 steel ---- NONE of them have any blade play -- if your dealer is local , take it in for a exchange -- if not , I'd send it back to the factory.
 
That doesn't look right to me. I have a couple stretches both in ZDP, and the lock bar covers more of the tang on both of them.
I would send it to spyderco.
 
There is definitely something radically wrong with that lockbar. I'd also suggest returning it to Spyderco, unless the dealer is willing to pay shipping both ways.
 
I'm not seeing much difference compared to my stretch. The main thing is the flat on the tang appears to be longer and there is more exposed than mine. The lockbar stops about the same place as mine based on the corner that transitions to the curve at the end of the knife.

I would say if it doesn't seem right try to return it to the store. Without being able to feel how bad it is there is a chance you will get it back from Spyderco with a note saying its 'within specs' which unfortunately has happened to me and I have read about happening to others. That could just delay it getting fixed/ replaced and cost you money for shipping. Just something to think about as only you know how bad it really is.
 
I have two regular Stretch 2's, and they look the same as in the picture. Maybe call or e-mail them and ask before you send it in only to find out thats how it's supposed to be.
 
I am going to send it back to Spyderco. How long does it usually take?
 
Its taking longer than usual right now. I sent a CTS XHP manix and a DODO back recently. They received them on 4.14.2011. I have not got them back yet.
