Got a rather odd request.

My favorite trail running shoes I've ever owned are starting to wear out, and Merrell has discontinued them. And I'm not sure where to find anything else like them!

These are the shoe in question: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R8NVP7E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (I'm assuming the rule against linking to products is irrelevant, given that they aren't purchasable any more)

They are different from anything else I've seen in that they don't need to be laced up. The upper part and the ankle portion are stretchy, so the shoe molds to my foot. They're unbelievably comfy. I want more, but I can't find more.

Has anyone seen a currently available shoe with a similar design?

Might wanna try Merrell's Chameleon 7 Stretch. It's more of a hiking shoe than a true trail runner, but it's pretty pretty similar to what you are looking for - stretch fit top with the pull-lock laces. I just bought a pair a last week and absolutely love them. That sporting goods store that sounds like a piece of male anatomy had them on sale for right around $100.

Aha! I knew there had to be something else out there. Figures that Merrell discontinued one and started up a similar replacement.

I've been breaking in a pair of normal shoes this week, and after wearing the stretchy ones for nearly 2 years I've hated having to tie laces again :p

You might look at water shoes. I saw a pair of shoes like that by under armor. I think they’re trying to compete with the keen Newport’s.
