Hi folks,

Could someone list the various Stretch models for me, please?

I am especially interested in ones with ZDP-189 steel so even if you don't happen to know all the versions, those will do just fine.

Thank you very much,

Mark

There are two with ZDP-189, an FRN version and a carbon fiber version. :D
I think the third model has VG-10 for a blade.

Top knife is the original Stretch. VG-10 blade, stainless steel handle with Kraton inserts on both sides. Mine is plain edge, but it also came in part serrated.

Next down is an early example the first of the "second generation" Stretches, ZDP-189 blade, peel ply CF handle, plain edge only. The handle is slightly longer than the original Stretch, in order to accommodate the "Delica 4" clip that Spyderco wanted to make standard. Later examples of this version have the finer jimping on the thumb ramp seen on the next knife down.

Third from the top is the FRN Stretch, this one in VG-10 with a black FRN handle. Part serrated and serrated versions also exist, as does a blue FRN/ZDP-189 plain edge version.

That covers the production versions. The bottommost knife is an original Stretch customized for me by STR with Lignum Vitae scales over titanium liners.

Thanks, fellas.

I owned a CF one myself a while back and it was a superb carry knife. A top slicer with that slim flat grind. Sadly, I moved it on and have regretted it so am keen on another one.

I wanted to know what was currently available before deciding and, to be honest, I would still lean towards the CF :D

Thank you both again for the help, it's very much appreciated.

Skol,

I edc an CF ZDP Stretch and if I lost it today, without a doubt, I would buy another tomorrow. It is very close to perfect.

+1 w/ss Dragonfly. I EDC a Stretch CF w/ZDP-189 and think it's the perfect EDC. I have a blue FRN ZDP-189 Stretch for emergency backup, but if something happened to my Stretch CF, I'd order another one immediately. It's that good.

+2 for the CF strech. If I had bought this as my first Spyderco, I may have never bought another.(OK, that may be a bit of an exageration)

My apologies to the OP. Here is a picture of both ZDP-189 Stretches:

The top one is the discontinued Blue FRN Stretch, the bottom on is the Stretch CF. Both are good, but I'm much fonder of the Stretch CF. I have a review of both on this forum somewhere.

Thanks for the advice, everyone, it's really appreciated. Here's a couple of pictures of the Stretch I used to own along with another great little pocket knife, the CF Caly.

I've decided to go with the CF Stretch again but am having some troubles finding a stockist who has one available. I don't know if this forum rolls the same way as other one I used to follow (where it's OK to name shops as long as they're officially approved stockists) but, only if it's alright, could someone tell me a good stockist with one ready to go?

By the way, they would need to ship internationally as I'm in Ireland.

Cheers,

Mark
