Stretch or Military

I am looking at both of these blades and really they can not be any more different. But I want to get a new knife and really like both of these models. I have the D2 para but I have always wanted a Military but I really like the Stretch. Both are FFG and one is S30V and the other is VG10. G-10 vs FRN and lock back and Liner lock. Or should I just get both and be done with it.

The Stretch is available in blue or black handles, VG-10 or ZDP-189, FRN or CF (Not all combinations of handle color, material, blade steel are possible, obviously). Unless you pick up an older release, Military is only available in S30V, black, camo or orange G-10 handles. The FRN VG-10 Stretch costs a bit over half the price of a Military.

Get both eventually, of course! I'd get the Stretch first, though.

I would take the stretch as I like it MUCH better than the military. I would also go with the ZDP version of the stretch in either the FRN or the carbon fiber.

Many people like the Military but I don't get it at all. The handle seems excessively long for the blade length and I'm not a fan of liner locks. I am in the minority though so you might like it fine.

Make sure you handle both knives and see which feels better. The Stretch has a smaller handle than the Military.

I'm carrying both this week, with the VG-10 Stretch riding RFP as the primary and my black/black Millie riding RRP as the backup/heavy cutter. I REALLY love both designs, but if I was forced to pick just one, it would be the Military for the following reasons:

- G-10 handles
- longer blade
- ever-so-slightly better steel (IMO)
- open back design

But, both have superb ergos, great steels, carry really well and cut like demons with their full flat grinds, so you really can't go wrong with either. Just depends on personal needs and preference.

I just bought a Stretch and so far I love it! Just a month ago, I had no Spydercos and now I have 3 with a 4th on the way. Ugh! Spyderco has created a monster!

I now have the Delica, Stretch and the Tenacious and just bought a Police Stainless off ebay. Trouble for me is, dealers in the NW U.S.A. don't stock many different models other than the Delica and Endura, so I have to buy the damn things to see how they fit in my hand. So...I'm searching for good deals off ebay, so I can flip and sell the ones I don't want to keep.

Delica and Tenacious are going back on ebay, but I think I'll keep the Stretch. Its not my preferred look, in terms of the blade shape, but damn it is sharp as all hell! Handy too!

If I could only have one, I would take the blue ZDP Stretch. The combination of ergos, size, features and weight are unbeatable. I would take a backlock over a liner; all things being equal.
That is not to say that the Millie isn't a great knife. Of course you must own one of them as well. However, IMO, it's ergos are not as refined as the Stretch, a little too large of handle, small choil, limited clip placement, etc. Mostly personal preference.
