People with just a Sebenza Habit

Hello Again, Just thinking today how many people that post on these forums are just sebenza folks??

There must be several hundred that post consistently on the CRK forums, but how many stick to Sebenza's with stedfast loyalty. I know I do. Well I like other customs and have had other knifes like Randall's and a few other customs(Steve Johnson and Ricardo Velarde) But once I had one of these( a sebenza) the landslide toward CRK products started.

Granted its a habit, but a good habit.!!! And all of us on bladeforums appreciate the company of others with the same interest. CRK Rules!!!!

Later and have a happy holiday, JC

Happy Holiday, JC!

I would say I am heavily in favor of Chris Reeve Knives folder line for both use and collecting. I can't say I'm "strictly" a Sebenza user, but it is what I carry at work and most of my time off.

I now have ten I've purchased over the past seven months. The only other knife I carry ,on rare occasion.
Is a custom stag buck 110. I guess I'm sold.

The Sebenza is the only pocket knife I carry anymore. I use a leatherman wave for nasty chores and when I need a FB I favor the Benchmade Nimravus. It is the right size and weight for camping, hiking and survival backup in the woods. The CRK one pieces make a good FB but I favor a micarta handle when it is cold or hot.

I can't imagine any other pocket knife than a Seb. It is my super sharp precision cutter. It is the quintessential pocket knife. It ain't no chopper though. As tough as it is I would never abuse it.

I saw my first Sebenza mid June this year. (thanks Owen ...... I think.. $$$$.00) :) :( ;)

I got my first one about three months ago, give or take a few days. I refuse to comment on how many I now have,(my wife might see this. .)but suffice to say number acquired vs. amount of time makes you look like a light weight JEFFERY........:D ;)

More and more I am coming to the conclusion this is about as close to all around perfection as I can get in a knife.

I had been pretty much content with a brand made in Oregon untill Owen planted that seed that has led to 'corruption.' Now don't get me wrong, I still like that brand a lot but the "complex simplicity" of the Sebenza is unsurpassed as far as I am concerned.

To be honest, one has been in my pocket 98% of carry time since I got the first one. What more can I say........

Sebenza here, right now I have about all I need, well except of course for the Wood inlay Classics hmmm they Wood have to start making those now!!! :D

Right now I have,
Large very old style, the Pre-Clip days...;)
Large new style
Small Classic
Small new style
Large wood inlay, (newest arrival!)
Small wood inlay, sweet...

I had a decorated but sold it off as I felt it duplicated the small new style.
I also had for a short bit, a small wood inlay with damascus blade but the coating warnings made me shy away and I quickly replaced that one with the current small wood inlay.
and that's about all I have to say about that...:)

I do have a box full of over manufacturers, however my Small plain is my favorite, and i carry that one everyday. At the moment it is taking a little vacation while i am recouping from my knee Surgery.

Sebenza all the way! I've had and carried others, including custom frame locks, but nothing else has the precision of the Sebenza. I really enjoy hearing that satisfying "thunk" upon opening and the little "pop" when I close the blade. Only possess two at the moment, both large standards with one being a 2001 ironwood woody. I have carried the woody since June and switched between the two since October. At any rate, I ALWAYS have a Sebenza on me.

Now, to another question. What other knives do you carry along with the Sebbie. I will carry a Spyderco Dyad Jr. or a Spyderco Toad in my left pocket. Even carry a BM 941 ( the new Osborne axis lock with clip blade) in my back pocket at times.

I can say without question though that the Sebenza is my FAVORITE!

Can't say that I'm a "strictly Sebenza" person, but I love 'em. Got a couple of customs I like too much for the large to be my only full-size folder. I always have my small plain on me, though. My large plain will be in rotation (I had to start a rotation:rolleyes:.) with the customs, and probably the Axis AFCK when it arrives.

I have this vision of a large woody, and a Mnandi with matching inlays, and wonder what part of my next income tax return might go toward;)

(thanks Chuck, now you're rubbing off on me:p)

All I can say Owen is, .........................................
.............................................................................................. YOU STARTED IT !!!!!!! :D

Have a great weekend,
Chuck

EDIT <> Hey, check that out; I finally figured out how to do a 'standard avatar'. :) Not that it is probably that hard for most of you, I am just 'computer challenged' ( an idiot when it comes to them) :D ............ but getting better. ;)

I have owned several Sebenzas over the years. I love the lock and the blade-to-handle weight ratio and the BG-42 is a cut above ATS-34.
But I guess for my requirements, I need a D2 blade--much tougher and longer lasting than BG-42. If CRK would give us a choice in blade steel, I would carry one 25 hours a day. By the way, check out this thread:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=178186
I'll always have a Sebenza, but I might not always use it. Just my opinions...

Barry, the D2 looks very nice. How does it stack up against BG-42 for corrosion resistance? That is a very important factor in a pocket knife for me and especially an EDC.

Well, I guess on paper, BG-42 would be more corrosion resistant.
But I never have had a problem with any D2 knives, and I live in a more humid climate than you do! I also use my knives in the kitchen cutting anything my wife will allow me to. Bottom line is that if you take simple precautions with blade steel, you will get a lifetime of service from said knife.
Good luck!

Lets just say mostly CRK:

and two more on the way :D

I carry other knives but I always have atleast one CRK with me be it an Umfaan, Mnandi, or a small or large Sebenza. Sometimes I have one in each pocket:D
