Strider and Randall Made

The other night I was fondling my knives. :)

When comparing my Strider SF and Randall Made #1-7, it was interesting to see how similar they are in design and toward what seems like a similar purpose.

I was also thinking I wouldn't want to use my Randall #1-7 for chopping cement blocks. No, I also wouldn't want to use the SF for chopping cement blocks.
Although, the #1-7 seems delicate by comparison.

I don't know, the Randall Model #1 has been around for 70 years in one form or another. Seems pretty rough and tumble for most folks.
 
The Randall is going to be a lot more comfortable to use than the Strider. I used one for an hour or so cutting and trimming corn in a produce market and my hand was sore. That is my mini pet peeve with cord wrapped handles in general.

I'm sure it is tougher than it looks.

It was interesting to see two knives that are so different in some ways, but are also are so much alike. I don't think either one was designed to trim corn in the produce market. :)
