Strider AR folder or wait for the Busse Folder?

I'm needing a good heavy duty folder, and the only one that appeals to me is the Strider AR. However, I would much rather have a great Busse folder, if they are anywhere close to being available..

Is there any ballpark timeline for these? I really don't want to buy an AR and then have the Busse folder available soon after..

Any info greatly appreciated.

I don't have info on when the Busse folder will be available, but I am having a hard time getting excited about Strider's offering. What the heck is so great about another ATS-34 folder? Buy a Buck instead ... its a helluva alot cheaper.

I for one am going to wait for the Busse folder. After all its INFI man and, coming from Busse, certain to be nuclear tough !!

Hope that helps!

I though AR were BG-42?
Either way, even if it's ATS-34, Strider/P.Bos ATS-34 is very differnt(in a good way) from any other ATS-34 I have ever had, that is regarding production blades, as I have no ATS-34 customs, but anyways.
Although haven't had any Buck ATS-34s either :)

The Strider AR is BG-42, although that's not very important to me.
What is important is the quality, the warranty, and the abuse level it looks to be able to withstand.

I of course would prefer a Busse folder, but if it's going to be a few years before they are available, I will go ahead and scrimp and save for an AR.

Mikemck:

Get the AR, don't think one more second about it :) I paced back and forth for a few weeks and finally broke down. AWESOME, isnt even the word. The quality, strength, and pure design are so well done. I'm sure when Busse puts out a folder it will be nothing short of amazing, but for now, there isn't anything on the market that even comes close to touching the AR. I've had mine for three or four weeks now, and can honestly say that I have never been so satisfied with a folder. You won't regret it, and if for some ungodly reason you arent happy with it, theres a waiting list a mile long of people who will buy it off you.

Oh, and yes it is BG-42 with BOS heat treatment, just to confirm.

Yeah, go for it. No telling when the Busse folder will be here, and a guy has to have a knife. :p

I am waiting for the Busse Folder -- while I fondle and use my SERE2000. ;)

I thought about the Buck Strider, but too big and too angular. I find this SERE2000 to be about all the knife I want clipped into my pocket.

Of late, Muzzleup has been waxing enthusiastic about Talonite. And I think he's going for a Sebenza. I say, get something you like and will enjoy now. If/when the Busse Folder arrives, you can always swap/sell your present folder. :D

Mike,
I've been on the waiting list for a Busse folder for over 18 months now, and even then there were at least 300 other folks already in line ahead of me. If Jerry ever does decide to actually market a folder, you can rest assured that I'll be there with cash in hand. But in the meantime, don't hesitate in getting yourself an AR. It's an incredibly tough, well made folder.

I'm going to pass on the Strider AR, because for some reason I can't get any kind of confirmation that the modifications I need to have done are possible, or what the cost for them would be, and never mind any ball park time for completion. There are some other issues also, but these are the main reasons.
I did pick up a MT LCC to hold me over until the Busse is available, which will do fine I'm sure.

That waiting list for the Busse folder is something else, though! Where can I sign up to be on the list?

Well, ironically enough, I just got a reply to questions about the Strider AR folder and the modifications I would require to make the folder lefty neutral.

In case anyone is interested in these prices and modifications, I will post them here.

Having 2 thumbstuds and a reversible clip is $40, and the wait time is approx. 5 months.

I think I'll wait for the Busse folder.

Bronco,

Could be, but it kinda irritates me to have to "customize" a folder just to make it lefty neutral, and never mind left friendly.

The Strider AR looks to be an awesome folder, no doubt, but the LCC is more practical for me, as I have fixed blades for the tough stuff, and the LCC for more discreet uses.

I'll probably end up with one sooner or later, but I'm in no particular hurry.
