Which would be the better blade for EDC and heavy camp/survival use? GB looks bad ass but the AR seems like it would be the better "user". What you you guys think?

Have you ever seen or handled either in person? It is, literally, a brick with a chunk of metal that folds out of it. It has to be an inch thick in the handles. Take a look at the SnGs. Same warranty, better lock, and in a size you can pocket.

If your heart is set, though, I say the GB. It's uglier, but the blade shape makes more sense for, well, whatever you might intend to do with something like that.

I saw one years ago at Blade Show 2002 but can't remember exactly how big they were. I have an RCC...How much bigger are they then the RCC. I could pocket something a little bigger then my RCC

The AR is to folders what clown shoes are to a clown. By that I mean goofy big. A fine knife, don't get me wrong, but goofy big. Again, I'm not dissin' the knife. I like it. Its just big, like a Carrot Top prop. It can be EDC-ed, and you get use to it, but you get the point.

For the camp/survival use, I'd pick out just about any fixed blade instead, and save about $300.

Same.

camp knife? get a busse

I own both Strider/Busse and I would say you cant go wrong with either. I do tend to use my striders more, but that is just personal preference.

*Edit* sounds like your heart is set on a folder, so Busse is out... I would recommend you look at the SnG & SMF (SnG might be a bit small for hard camping survival use and SMF is to big for some for EDC)

I myself EDC a MSC XL BFF and I dont even notice it in my pocket (it is even larger then the SMF). The clip point and dual Gunner Grip make it much lighter then you would think.

if ya edc a AR or GB in your pocket your more man than me lol, i would very much prefer a SnG or SmF to either one, i cant fathom a situation i would be in where i thought "gee my SnG isnt big enough i wish i had my AR"!!! sure, you can pack one, especially in a sheath, but why bother when the SnG is 2X more handy to carry and will do virtually anything an AR or GB will to boot. and i really liked the AR too, i got one back in the late '90s IIRC pre-SnG days, loved the heavy duty feel and look, but after a few days it got old to carry edc, just too big for me.

between a AR and a GB i would take the AR every time, i like the spear point vs the tanto.

i do notice when knives get over a certain size, imho a SnG is a lot easier to pocket carry vs say a SmF, i got a emerson custom CQC13 last week and had been carrying a CQC12 (which is a lot thinner) and i can tell a difference.

the AR/GB is so much bigger than say even a SmF that, too me, they are just too big/thick/heavy for edc in the pocket, and if i am gonna go to a sheath i will just pack a fixed blade vs a folder in a sheath.

I have a tanto SnG and a drop point SnG. The tanto tip is stronger for prying, but IMO its not as usefull, so the drop point sees more use. I've heard Strider would fix it if I ever over worked the tip anyways? But I'm not sure.

So I guess my question is, will Strider fix my SnG for free, if I break the first inch of the tip off the blade? I will probably never need to find out, but its good to know.

I've wondered the same thing. More importantly to me though would be if they did fix it would they just put a new point on your now 2 inch blade or get you a completly new blade??

I got a GB on passaround over on british blades. It came direct from Plaza along with a WH legacy that I bought (and EDC). I just burst out laughing at the difference between the two. the legacy only weighed 0.9oz
It was a fdunny knife and I did carry it for a week but wouldn't go with a tanto point.
The PT is more my kind of thing though

More thanks.....maybe I need to rethink it's size. I work for a company that thinks a swiss army key chaine knife is a deadly weapon.........God forbid the wrong person saw a AR in my pocket!
