First off, this is a BIG pocket knife. I am used to carrying a ZT 302 so I am not one to shy away from large knives but this beast makes my ZT look small. I will assume people looking into this knife are looking for a large knife so I dont see this as a set back. In fact some guys with big hands may find it refreshing. Fit and finish were good and the blade was nice and sharp. There was a small amount of blade play when locked open unless the pivot was tightened to much (therefore making the blade hard to open) but this was not a new knife and it looks lke it has seen some good use. Despite the small amount of blade play the knife functioned flawlessly. Once opening was initaited the blade snaped into place and lock up was solid. I like the height of the blade and the shape in relation to the handle. My only problem was that this is a pass around knife and I therefore could not abuse it. This knife begs to be abused! I wanted to open 55 gallon drums with it and batton it through a few trees. I was however able to restrain myself. It handled regular cutting duties well and the BG-42 blade held its edge as expected. I would not hesitate to recomend one to someone looking for a tank of a knife. At the end of the day I would opt for a smaller knife from strider and I think that they would be just as strong. The extra size may not serve much purpose but this is the type of knife that makes you want to use it like a fixed blade and here in Alaska there is certainly a place for such a knife that will still fit in your pocket. I fully enjoyed carrying and using it.
