Hey

I have heard from several people that the AR is kinda heavy.. About how much does it way? My buddy seems to think it might be too bulky or heavy for a useful folder. I kinda wanna get one, but they are on the pricey side :(

I might put up with a Emerson Commander... :barf:

Hey, don't knock the Emerson Commander... It's a pretty great knife. I have one and I think it is one of the best folders out there.

As for the Strider AR... Well as soon as I get mine, I'll let you know what I think!:D

Welcome to the forums! Nice Avatar by the way...

The AR is a heavy folder, but after carrying it in the pocket a while it doesn't seems to be too heavy.

The Commander is a great knife (it's got the Wave!). I would suggest getting a '98 if you can find one.

I have both and usually trade off carry between the two depending on my mood.

After seeing your post, I decided to weigh my GB. It weighs in at 9oz on the postal scale. It is about .730 thick, 1.800 at the widest point closed and 5.400 long closed. All this makes the knife sound big. IT IS. I got it for that reason. I wanted at least one stout, no compremise folder. I now have it!! If you are looking for a solid, never quit folder, the Striders are the way to go. If you are looking for a sleek, thin, light carry piece, this might not be for you. I took one of my REKAT Sifu out of the gun safe the other day to compare to the GB. The Sifu felt frail and flimsy compared to the GB. It is not frail, it just seemed it compared to the Strider. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Strider folders are elegant BEASTS!!! Try one on for size if you can before you make up your mind.

Hey if it is to big.... You could always go with the slightly smaller Buck SB-1 10", though it is longer is not as wide; or the much smaller SB-2 7" I have both and carry SB-2 most often but it is nice to have the larger blade.

Ja... Or you could spend more time in the gym getting pumpatudenous if that little bitty knife is too big and heavy for you, girlie-man!
