Forgive me if this has been covered here recently (I didn't see it listed though). I recently saw a seller (from China) selling on fleabay quite a few Strider B888's. I've wanted one of these for sometime but, my thought is they're fakes. Can someone shed some light on this? I see they're selling quite well but, buyer beware I figure and I'd rather hear from those of you who have more knowledge on these. Thanks!

John, I am sure these are complete rip offs. Stuff like this ruined the BuckMaster sales towards the end of the run. You can find good deals occasionally on fleabay.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. I have GOT to make some time and get up your way to the Buck Factory, I live in the Tri-Cities and there's no good excuse for being this close and not getting up there more often....especially when I hear they're cleaning out the closet on here......sigh....

I looked up some of the 888's on e-bay. The ones from the guy from Hong Kong look authintic going by the pictures he is using. There is no "buy it now" price so I cant tell what he is trying to get for them. BTW, I was at a Buck Factory sale several years ago and bought 2 for $60 ea and they had at least 30 boxes on the table. The next day there were 3 or 4 for sale adds here and on ar15.com with asking prices over $100. Anyway, Buck was dumping them for bargin prices so its possible a guy in China could have obtained 5 or so to re-sell on e-bay or something.

I'm always a little suspicious when an item that is relatively scarce in the U.S. shows up in quanity on Fleabay offered by a seller in China. Logically, where would the seller get a quanity of BRAND NEW knives that have been discontinued by the U.S. manufacturer.......duh!

I would be skeptical on these. That is a long way to ship something only to ship it back and those were being knocked off at the end.

I saw these too. Take a close look at the picture - smooth button (not stamped Buck) and the logo with BOS and ATS 34 appear lazer engraved - they are not on any of the 3 that I own. The picture the green in the sheath is the wrong shade. If they only had a few, why do they keep appearing over and over. The box looks good but I'm assuming thats easy to duplicate. My vote is they are fakes.

Yeah, I agree with you... there seems to be a lot of folks buying them from what I see and paying that enormous shipping fee as well. I'm sure they'll eventually turn up again on ebay down the road when the owner(s) find out that they actually bought a fake and someone who'll think they're bidding on a domestic blade will buy it then....a sad circle ~ buyer beware.:(

IIRC, I thought the sheaths for the 888 were out-sourced to CSM, so they might not have a Buck snap. As far as lazer engraving, I cant really tell the difference. Fakes or not, I cant tell. Some food for thought is Strider has a big following in Asia with several production models exclusive to dealers in Japan. It seems like it would make more sense to fake Striders for the money than Buck. Has anyone seen what the 888's on e-bay have sold for?

Hey, for all of you that think these China origin 888's are real, I've got a very iconic bridge in New York for sale real cheap!!! ;)

They have been selling for as low as $32 to nearly $63 lately. There's been 11 of them sold on ebay in the last two weeks or so from what I've counted. There's a couple different sellers peddling them from Hong Kong with a $24 shipping fee to boot. Here's what they look like.
