hello, i have a little inner struggle going on, maybe you can help. i have a strider sng, ive had it for about a year now and i really like it. when the sero tolerance line came out, i was excited and intended to pick one up but none of the knives in the line really stood out at me. but then this thing came along:

im in love with this knife, at least aesthetically speaking. im sure it can hold up to alot of abuse, but what does everyone think of this configuration?

i cant afford it outright, but if i sold my sng, i could pay for it. sng's, although great knives, are readily available. this zt 0300 in carbon fiber is a limited supply model.

what would you do?

I'd sell the SnG and buy that ZT. The Zero Tolerance knives are like Striders that grew up and married into a good family. Just as tough but a lot classier. :)

The only question you might have is the size. I've got big hands and no problem with my ZT 200 but the 300 is even more massive. I'd still get it.

I also like the customer service at Kershaw. They are very fast to reply and send out replacement parts, no questions asked. Though I have not had ANY issues with my SMF, I would hope the customer service at Strider would be just as attentative as Kershaw, should any issues arise. Personally I prefer my Strider over my ZT302, because it is a Strider, but the ZT300's are great too!

just know, if you're really considering replacing your SNG with the ZT, the ZT is *considerably* heavier.

part of what i thought made the SNG so cool is it's a lot of knife for a little weight.

ZT's are made well and certainly as tough as the original SNG-- probably tougher with the addition of the steel liner on the G10 side... i had one, but it just wasn't for me.. too big, too heavy, not practical for a folder, and the flipper didn't seem to add any benefit over manual opening (although it was fun).

just my thoughts. YMMV.

Dont wait too long if you want the limited edition ZT, they will probably sell out fast.

I think it is like trading a Jeep Wrangler for a big SUV -- different classes. The thing that is so nice about the SnG is it is such tough knife in such a small package. I'd keep it, but thats just me.

Danroot,

Quite apart from the knives themselves..........

Almost without fail when I have sold or traded something to get something else I THOUGHT I wanted, I have ended up regretting it.

This applies in my case to knives, guns, tools, and all my other toys.

Good luck with your decision.

Interesting username you have there by the way. :D

If you don't buy one now, keep your eyes on the FS forum. No doubt one will turn up some day, sooner or later.

If you carried the SnG now, I don't think you will like the ZT. It's too big for pocket carry. Don't get me wrong the materials and design are great. For me it's too heavy EDC.
