hey guys - i was checking out the strider crash axe and it looked pretty cool - just wondering if anyone here has any practical experience with one. im looking for something to keep in my truck and also to be used for camp duty as well. (probably not the cheapest axe out there - but it looks like it will last forever!)

any info is appreciated,

thanks!

While not having personal experience with it, I've looked at it. Cool design.

Looks to be well engineered for it's intent, but way out there price wise. Sure, it's probably the highest expense/lb. 'hawk on the market, along with being the most "high speed" - and if that's what a person needs, it's the one to get......however, my tastes lend more towards the traditional side of the spectrum.

A lot does have to be said about the S7 steel though...........

It looks to be the ultimate breaching tool, with the exception of the judicious use of explosives of course!!

The Strider Crash Axe won't be any good for camp work because it's not "sharp". By that, I mean that it doesn't actually have a single sharp edge on it. It's a rounded blade that is designed for high impact BLUNT force trauma, not cutting. Just thought I'd let you know.

I want one too, though...

Very good point.

Maybe check out a Swamp Rat Crash Axe. Sharp, versatile, Tough, and much cheaper than the Strider. SR77 (Modified S7 Steel.) There is one on the exchange right now.

thx for the info - yeah - its not gonna do me much good if i cant at least chop some wood with the thing...
