I am considering buying a Strider CuBe SMF up on ebay right now. I have wanted one for a rather long time, but am not quite sure how much it is worth and how much I should bid. Searching this and other forums they seem to sell used for between 400 and over 800$ used. Any recommendations or advice here would be very much appreciated.

(some forums prohibit posting any outside links to items for sale, which is why I didn't include it here)

Well I believe all the copper beryllium Striders were ground by Mick Strider himself, the auction certainly claims it was. Is this not the case?

*edit*
For reference if it would help you can always look it up on ebay. Again I am not sure I am allowed to post a direct link, but its not exactly hard to find since if you type in "cube strider" you will get only one hit

I'm by no means a being strider guy, but I remember seeing these go for around $400-600 in the last few months. Hope you get some more answers from guys who know more, but thats the most recent prices I've seen. I'd guess its like everything else and it depends who sees it for sale and wants it the most.

good luck with the bidding!

Well my better half thinks that a used pocket knife couldn't possibly be worth 400$.... I am inclined to think otherwise but I was hoping someone with experience could back me up.

Remember that you can always send it back to Strider to be brought back to like new status.

Just don't plan on using it for food prep or cut anything you will ingest. CuBe shouldn't be used on foods. Not sure why people want one for an EDC knife. Cool factor? Dunno

Well, if you think it's not worth $400, you won't be getting it anyway, so what's your beef? You want to buy it at a lower price when others are willing to buy it at that level? Tough tittie.

Knives usually depreciate in value, but there's the odd few that have their secondhand prices oddly driven up by demand (i.e. the Benchmade 42, a production balisong of all things selling for 100-150$ more than it's retail price after it got d/ced).

I would say the price that you welling to pay 400$ is too cheap this knife is rare and hard to find and some people welling to pay over 800$ to buy them I know that I bought one yesterday for 850$ so it all depends on the condition

Prices can change drastically over time and the question was asked in Oct 2010. So the price may have been on at that time.

Not sure why it was felt to bring this old thread back up.

Please do not encourage rule breakers.
