Looking at Strider fixed blades, I have a few questions for those who own one, or have owned one. Bonus points if you used it and can comment on the knife's performance :D

I rarely see S30V in a fixed blade. I've chipped an S30V folder edge before, badly. I assume because it was ground very thin, being a folder. How does S30V hold up on a properly ground 45 degree edge fixed blade?

What is the purpose of the serrations on the back of some of the Strider fixed blades? It seems like it would just get hung up when cutting stuff.

[SUB](Please don't turn this into a thread about knife company owner politics, the info is already out there, all over the place for interested people to read. In fact, I had to post this thread because I couldn't find any real information in searches, every single thread on the internet about Strider knives seems to be all about what the owner did 10+ years ago)[/SUB]

I've had good luck with a number of models, just pryed a door open with a TAD edition DUK, I believe this one is S90V however.
Striders come thick, which in my opinion saves them from most damage. A BT I had 10 years(give/take) ago I used mainly as a pry bar. Held a good edge considering the amount of metal on metal contact.
I have no experience with the folders.
I like S30V myself, I did snap a tip off a spyderco PM2, but it was thin.
My draw to Striders are handle size. I have large hands, my ol'lady loves me.

Strider's fantastic HT and ergos make these knives what they are. You will have on tough tool on your hip.

I finally scored an MT Spearpoint, and it came earlier than I thought it would....wow.

The knife is a perfectly balanced BEAST. It weighs 3/4 of a pound, or something, but feels much lighter because of the perfect balance.

I like the long handle. The "gunner grip" G10 isn't nearly as sharp and uncomfortable as the internetz had me concerned about.

I like the minimal jimping and the choil. They, combined with the small handstops/guards/whatever, allow me to choke up on the blade comfortably.

I like the sheath. It's flat and seems sturdy and hangs the knife just right.

I like the swedged spearpoint, and I even like the hollow grind.

I'm going to go make a fire, and pound it through some stuff. But, it needs a sharpening first, it's disappointingly dull right now. I'll post a full review, with pictures :D
