Strider folder questions

I've been looking for a new folder for quite some time. In short, I do allot of hiking, camping etc. in remote areas. I will not tolerate another knife that needs to be pampered, I need a tool that will withstand abuse and not fail. I have some questions I would like to ask reguarding the EB Series AR and the Strider Buck.

-What is covered under the strider "unconditional lifetime guarantee'? If I'm prying something and it breaks is that covered or is that considered unreasonable abuse?

-What is the actual difference from the Strider Buck and the Buck Strider? (I only ask because I don't exactly have allot of money and if the Buck not too compromising it may be a better option for me, or rather my budget)

-I'm skeptical about liner locks (I'm assuming thats what these foulders utilize). Why should I trust this lock on a strider?

-Do you ship to Canada?

-What is it that realy makes Strider diferent from the competition?

Thanks,
[D]

Striders are designed to be used for prying, chopping, stabbing, slashing, slicing, dicing and stirring your coffee (ok, maybe not the last one). They are hardcore because they are designed hardcore. Breakage is covered.

The Strider Buck and Buck Strider are the same, they are made by Buck from Strider's design. The actual custom Strider folders are the AR and GB which are going to have a bigger, thicker blade, thicker, more contoured handles and thicker liners. Price is going to be the big factor, but it depends on your budget.

As far as I know, everybody will ship to Canada.

Take it easy,
Reed

Ok, so if the Buck-Strider and the Strider-Buck are both manufactured by Buck, do they fall under Buck's warantee or Striders?

Sorry to leave you hanging, I was posting will running out the door. The Buck Strider is covered by Buck's warranty which does not cover prying or abuse. They are good, heavy duty knives capable of doing things that you wouldn't do with most folders. If you want the meanest, nastiest camp folder, you should go with the custom Strider AR, but at $375 it might not be in your budget. All I can say is that everyone that has one here loves them and hasn't had any problems. Let me know if you have more questions.

Take care,
Reed

Hey, just you hold on a minute Reed! It does coffee just fine! :D
You should see my PICS of GB splinter removal!

Gah!

The fact that the Strider Buck is only produced by buck and falls under their warranty concerns me. The AR sounds perfect but $600 Can is abit much for me. I'd save up, but I need a good knife and can't wait that long :(.

Would a fixed blade be cheaper? Say an EB-LS?

$600 for an AR? are you serious? Granted, it would still be worth every penny, but I only paid $398, and all the dealers I looked at were within ten or fifteen dollars of that price....

Yep Derek, you were right. Just got my receipt out since we got it from the same place. It was $375 for the AR, and $398 after the overnight shipping was added on top.

i meant $600 was the canadia price after converting whatever monopoly money they use to dollars.
Of course you gotta have the overnight shipping!
I wasn't gonna admit that, but at least I'm not alone!
cheers,
Derek

Ok Frank,
It will do coffee.

[D]urus,
Yeah it is going to be a lot, but it is a folder like none other. It comes down to what is it worth to you. You like either one you get.
