Strider GB

Sister Suz... I gather you sold your GB? I was told the GB might be too big for an edc. I just heard that Strider is coming out with a smaller variant. I'll wait and see. Thanks.

Hey Lycosa. I don't have a GB, but I do have an AR, so I can tell you what I do. As far as strength goes, the AR/GB has it. The blade is from 3/16th's" stock, and the titanium liners seem to range between .095" to .105", as I had a couple of AR's and one was at .095" and the one I kept measures at .105". As far as edcing it I do at times. I made a foldover clip and mounted it on the last frame screw. I inletted the handle a little to help stabilize the clip as it only has one screw, but it is a larger frame screw and the clip is solid as a rock. There are several variations depending on clip and handles (flat or rounded).

I have traded and sold knives in the past, but the AR is not one of those I've ever put on the block. I really like mine a lot!:thumbup::D

Thanks Cutter!
Can you get me a pic of your Strider?
I'm sure I will order one soon. ;)

I carried mine in a Lifter's leather sheath. I had a TAD Gear version; it had tritium inserts in the thumb studs. I LOVED the knife. I had no problem carrying it. Yeah, I sold it. I needed the money, and I sold it to a friend. I loved it. But, I have a Sibert Pocket Rocket, and I LOVE it more than my GB.

Carry what you love! :)
And Suz... you have some extra "back-up" folders!! :D

I got a nice Lifter's Leather sheath for my PR too. It looks awesome. I gotta take some pix of the sheath, at some point.

When you can, post that pic.
Sounds like some Striders must have a carry sheath.

I have owned both the AR and the GB. I felt the edges on the GB were way too thick, so, I had Tom Krein cut it down into an AR shape (though a little shorter) with a full Flat grind and a nice swedge. It nearly had a 0 edge and cut like a laser. As stated by the others, it is a bit of a chore to carry in the pocket. The weight was borderline acceptable, but the overall size made it such that it should be carried in the pocket you put the least things (or nothing) in. The fit, finish and lock-up were all above par for a Strider. I typically find the poor fit of the scales and back spacer on the SnG and Pt to be unacceptable, but, on the AR and GB they are spot on.

IMO the AR and GB are the best Striders you can buy for the money. Plus, if you are patient and look around you can often get a killer deal on either. My last AR was snagged off the bay for a mere $220. Also note that there have been some great prices on Strider Anniversary ARs (with special grinds and CF handles) in the excahnge. Finally, when you do get your GB or AR get some rubber o-rings to put on the thumb studs if yours does not come with them. The detent on both that I owned made it such that the edge of the stud (where there is a cut out groove) digs into your finger. I may be one of the few who have this problem b/c I keep my Striders very tight, but, the o-rings do help and they are a nice touch.

Sorry for the long-winded post :D

I second the O-ring idea as mine has them and they do help. I have no pics as everytime I save enough for a camera I end up buying a knife instead! Every AR I've handled in the past 5 years, a total of four, has had excellent fit, finish is not as high as a CRK, but it is not intended to be so, also have had excellent lock up. I've never had the SNG, PT, or the larger one, name escapes at the moment, but I do know the AR/GB series, and they are GREAT!!!

SMF is the one I could not think of.
