Now I dont have the funding to be buying a new knife right now but...theres not anything wrong with looking into your next purchase right...Anyways, Ive seen a lot about strider knives on this forum and had a few questions, first I see that it is an American owned and operated company so Im assuming the knives are produced in the US...next I noticed that they are quite pricey now most of the time you get what you pay for but are they worth the price tag?

Yes, and maybe? Depends if you like them enough I suppose. I wouldn't pay for one, but I'm not a fan and I don't generally spend over 200 on blades.

Some people like them here, others don't. Id do some research and make your own choice. Good luck

I have only had one Strider, It was a SNG. I loved the look and feel of the SNG. I had it after having a sebenza and an umnumzaan so those are kinda what I was comparing it to. It had great ergonomics and a rock solid blade lock up. The reason a sebenza is still in my pocket and not the SNG is the blade was slightly off centered and the lock up would stick horribly. From what I have read a off centerd blade is common, and the lock sticking is kinda part of the break in process. I just liked the sebenza more, but I will get another SNG when funds allow. Just be aware that with a strider there are QC variations with the same models and there seems to be a break in period with some. But still great knives.

US made, quality knives? Yes.
Overpriced? Yes.
Is everyone going to like them? No.
Do you get what you pay for? Well that's subjective. Personally I feel like I got what I paid for. Strider S30V is good stuff and the knife is tough/overbuilt. However, I think the knives could be about $100 cheaper.
Just note that if you buy a new Strider they aren't smooth until they break in. Strider's customer service isn't the greatest, but the warranty is great (from what I've heard). Also if you ever need to adjust the pivot you'll need a specific tool or you'll have to send it to Strider.

Having owned and sold one, MY OPINION is they're completely not worth the money in any way shape or form. Some love them. Mine had horrible fit and finish and a very obtuse edge that was also quite dull, especially for a 500 dollar folder.

I like the SNG's design a lot. But the quality didn't really impress me. There was up and down bladeplay. Sometimes the lock would jam and I found that it was a bit difficult to po the blade out even after I oiled it up. I ended up trading it. I still might get another one in the future just because I like the design and tiger strip coating so much.

Are they worth the money? It's a completely subjective question. To some people spending over $50 on a knife is absurd when a $5 flea market knife can cut things too.

It's a decision you have to make. I'm no expert on Strider knives but from the few I've had it seems that Strider has really picked up its game in the fit and finish department in the last year or so.

great thread happy to see opinions outside of "oh em gee strider, automated answer: best knife ever par with the Sebenza"

Glad to finally hear some cons/faults.

If your lucky enough to get a good one, they are probably one of the best knives you could purchase. I have had 3 ( 2-SNG & 1 SMF )......... I liked both SNG's, BUT both had poorly ground blades, off centered blades, and were all scratched up from the factory ( there was a thread about a month back where I posted pics of my sng's, and yes it did happen, proof is in the pics ). I called strider nearly every day for 2 weeks with no responce. My SMF on the other hand is great. Strider uses a 23 degree blade edge, so I re-profiled it on my sharpmaker to 20 degrees. Its a great knife and I love it, its a keeper. So far, my batting average with strider is 333%. Having owned 3, with only One being any good. I do think they are way over priced. They Should easily be $100-$150 cheaper for what you get.........I would just be leary with them. Many people love them and have great luck with them, others feel the same way I do. And if you did a pole, you would probably find it about 50-50 love/hate. Like anything, they have their pro's and con's.............My advise to Strider, take a little more time with your fit and finish, blade grinds, and definately improve your customer service. Your selling a $400-$500 knife made in USA. Take Pride In It & Make It Right !!!

hello I think the Striders (I have a SNG CC) are beautiful. Very nice, very strong. But, the blade/handle ratio is not the best : the cutting part of the blade is not longuer than the one of a small Sebenza. The handle is very large on the back, so it takes much place in the pocket. I would rather suggest a Sebenza, for a all purpose edc. Only buy this knife if you really think you absolutely have to have one (like I did !)

I researched the topic heavily and was seconds away from clicking the "confirm purchase" button when I paused.

I made a list of the benefits/uses this knife would provide that the one in my pocket will not. I know that buyers remorse would set in hard if I do not consider this and justify the use of this knife. I suggest you do the same.

Everyone seems to agree about one thing regarding Striders (and this is RARE). That "one thing" is that the knives are designed to be used, and the only way you will likely appreciate one to its fullest is to use it hard. If you can agree on that, then it is a simple matter regarding will you use it, and will it offer a duty that your current knives cannot.

The duties this knife is reportedly capable of is what makes it worthwhile. Those who buy this based on expected fit and finish, or its "cool" looks are sometimes dissatisfied. Those who buy it for extreme duty seem to be the ones that appreciate it most.

Dunno how that can be true , I don't use my PT CC hard , but it gets used like any other , and I can certainly appreciate it. No knife is for everyone , buy & use what you like , never live for anyone else :)

I'm not a strider fan for other reasons that have been well discussed on this forum.

An option that you may want to look at is the Buck versions which were made with strider. Give you a general impression of the design at a very reasonable price. They have been discountinued but many are still floating around for sale on the net.

Don't mean to nit pick but i think you mean 33.3%(1/3).

I have heard lots of good things about Strider knives. I have heard they are worth the money. But I will never own anything with the Strider name attached to it. I don't like or have respect for Mick Strider, and won't contribute a single penny to anything he ever does.

But I won't say his knives suck or anything like that.
