Strider LH? (And other questions)

So I know that Strider has recently redone the way they do their lock faces, and now it looks like new PTs are available again, too. Does anyone know if they'll be making left-handed models again? Or have they started already and I've just missed it? Also, is there any easy visual way to tell if a knife has the new lock face or not?

Thanks,

There is a very, very, very small chance of seeing another run of lefty Striders. The only run I know of was 50 SnG's a few years ago (25 spear point/25 tanto) other than a few customs here and there. As far as the new lock face, I don't have any experience with Striders (due to the lack of lefties available) so I can't help ya there.

Only as customs at some shows. I owned a lefty DDC SnG that was made this year. It was one of only two I've seen made recently. You will not see a production run of lefty Striders in the near future, if ever.

Ok. Sorry to hear it, but thanks. Do y'all know of any mid-tech or custom makers that are willing to accomodate lefties (I know about CRK)? Most of the ones I've seen don't even bother with left hand friendly models.

Honestly, it's not even the lock that is a problem for me so much as the lack of a lefty clip or just the single, RH thumbstud for opening.

I'm right handed, but it's no problem for me to use a liner lock in my left hand. It's just a pulling instead of a pushing with your thumb. But I see lefty knives quite a bit in the knifemaker's for sale. In fact, txwoodchip just sold a lefty for $295.

I know for production models, Emerson, a couple of CRKTs, Spyderco and DPx make lefty folders.

As for custom makers, I know a few:

Alan Davis
JBS Tools
Jake Hoback
SouthPaw knives
Andrew Fitz
Sean Kendrick
Blackwood customs
GTC
Warren Thomas
Kirby Lambert
Ferrum Forge
Krein Knives
Yuna Knives
Kingdom Armory

Now some of these makers have their books currently closed but I check back on their websites from time to time to see if they are currently taking orders and some have wait times in excess of 3 years. The first 4 on the list have more manageable wait times (around 8 months or less).

Id definately reccomend Jake Hoback's knives. He does terrific work and Ive put his B-2 folder through the wringer and it still is perfect. If i was a lefty Id order one from jake no doubt.

I already have!

Thanks for the input and list; that's exactly what I was looking for. And yeah, the Hobacks definitely caught my eye, too.
