What do you guys think? I never had a fascination with machetes, but this one looks neat.

It looks like its about $475 S30V, G10 in a 9 1/2 blade. It looks more like a competition cutter or large chopper than a Machete to me (though the stock looks thin enough). I also could think of several other steels better suited for Machete style work than S30V. Its nice but I could get a Custom David Wesner knife (using maker example) in that style for that price (maybe less) with a better suited steel and better handle materials. I'll pass

Looks like what I always called a corn knife. A proper machete needs a longer blade. Nice knife for sure...just not sure it's a real machete.

They may call it a machete, but I don't. That there is a big sheepsfoot chopping knife. Still cool I guess, but it doesn't really do anything for me.

Kinda thick for a true machete IMO, but it is thin for a Strider that large.

I Love S30V on smaller/medium knives, but if I need a chopper I'm going with Busse's INFI,or a high carbon steel.

Not that anyone is interested in my opinion, but a littlebit too fancy for machete? :/
Also, I wouldn't choose that steel for machete..

Ummmmm perhaps not for that price but still cool.

The BK9 has a nine inch blade and it's far from a machete. Good chopper but far from a machete. I can't see how this one with 1/2 long blade can be any better.
I've never handled it and most likely never will so who knows.

They probably only released it now, and called it a machete because of that new movie that just came out called "machete".

I'll go with "marketing hype" for the win.

Yay, more over-priced slab cutlery. Why does he even bother to make knives, its his name people buy. We should all just send him cash because hes so cool. Were it not for his prices, his products would be more valuable. Laughs.
Seriously though, this tools looks uncomfortable in the handle for prolonged heavy work.
Light and well balanced, no pressure points in the grip, moderately tactile, and well tempered spring steel is the way to go in the south. Grab any Imacasa or Cold Steel machete and use the cash you didn't waste on other needed gear.

That handle looks like it needs some rounding of the edges.

This knife has been out for a while. It was shown off at Shot Show 2009. Its release has nothing to do with the movie 'Machete'

I think it looks cool, but I'm not sure how it performs with the steel choice, and I don't think it even really is a machete. Still would love to hold one. As for the blocky handles, it's standard for Striders.

I didn't even bother to look into it.

Thanks for the correction if it has been available to the buying public since then.

I like the looks of it but agree that a tool steel would probably be a better choice, and that that handle could probably use some rounding and contouring for prolonged use.
