Hey guys,
I looking to trade my guitar (Epiphone DOT 335 (I want $375 trade value)). Anyways, I was offered a Strider Military NSN.

I have no clue about Striders. I don't especially like them so I would probably looking to sell it or trade for something else.

Thing is, I read on older posts that these are issued to military personnel by the army, is this correct?
Is there a market for these? Is it worth my $375 trade value?

Any help would help, I am clueless about Striders.

Thanks,

Daniel

Take a look at the for sale forum here and you can see what the average market value for similar knives.

Why make a trade for something you are "clueless" about?

The market for Striders is all over the map, and how much it may be worth involves a number of factors.
Condition and blade steel being the main two.

NSN's are S30V (unless something has changed) so you're off to a bad start on the value based on steel.....

You really need to do your homework on lock-up (always important, but more so with Striders)

We are in a market that is on the weak side, so you can try to factor that into the equation however you think it will fit....

Fair comments. I live in Canada so shipping is an issue in the trade. The knife market isn't as great as on here.

I contacted the person and he says it's 154cm.

I just think it might be a good trade since I could use the Strider to trade on here towards something I really want.

I would think the NSN # might limit your audience some. Being non military, it is not something I would look for. There is a market-I see them for sale from time to time, but never looked into them myself. CPM 154 and S30V steels are fine with me, but they don't pull a premium price. Since you don't want the knife , I would pass. Sounds like a lot of work and too many ways it could not work out to be a good deal.
Just my opinion.

I don't know if it is the same one as you were referring to, but there was one for sale yesterday(another forum) new for $385. Today it is marked sold. So that gives you some idea of price range and that they do have buyers.

The post below is correct. I presumed we discussing an SMF

I'm not a Strider expert, but I know enough to know that your trade information is incomplete, Mermaniel. NSN is not a model name, it's an acronym. It stands for National Stock Number and is a procurement reference for military and federal government materiel purchases.

I know of at least three Strider knives that received NSNs. Two were SMF models.

The third was this DB-L model.

I believe that someone referring to a Strider as a "Military NSN" is likely referring to the DB-L. If your guitar trade is for one of the SMFs, it's a good trade. If it's for a DB-L, you probably won't recoup the value of your Epiphone.
