Well, the overwhelming response seems to be very positive regarding Strider knives. Some leave me wondering if Mick Strider himself is writing to me. I regularly shoot small bore silhouettes with a guy that has a BUNCH of Strider knives...have seen some but not the GB in question. Apparently the grind lines are off and the scales aren't uniform. Maybe he's anal retentive about his knives but I won't know 'till I see. Because of the responses, I'm going to put my name on my favorite purveyors waiting list for an AR & then I'm going to shoot the **** out of the chickens, pigs, turkeys & rams just to kick his ass. Thanks!:)

Ahhh, but you can't judge a Strider that way...I made a post about this very topic on the Strider forum last week...let me repaste it here :)

"My first impression was: "I want to destroy something with this"...actually, I still get that every time I hold my BD :D

The fit and finish on my Strider is...how shall we say this politely..."functional beauty"...I like to call it "Like Used in Box" (LUIB) condition...ordinarily, I would not like this type of thing but in this case, it really adds to the "hard-core" concept...I have never wanted to use or even abuse a knife as much as my Strider. I recently handled the Buck version of the EBLS and I got the same "this is badass!!!" feeling. Striders have really spoiled me...I now look at other knives as "pretty but wimpy".

I have to admit that I never understood the concept of buying more than one knife from a given maker...when I got "into" knives, I vowed to get knives from as many different makers as possible...that was before discovering Strider.

Thanks Striderguys, thanks a lot  "

The bottom line is that sure a Lovestrand double hollow-ground has better fit, finish, and grinds than a Strider...that is until you use the Strider to chop it in half :)

Ever since I got my AR folder I don't even look at any other folding knife, haven't even thought about any other knife purchase....except more Striders. I've sold half of my collection because the little voices in my head kept telling me to chop them with my AR. :D :D :D

my Strider flat ground s30v GB is tough as nails, and flawlessly put together...symmetrical in all respects...my experience with Strider is that it is the best folder I own.

In my opinion, the older Strider folders were not that great.
The fit & finish was not up to par for a $350 knife, the thumbstuds were poorly done, the liner lock needed tweaking, and the action was a bit gritty.

The latest incarnations are very well done indeed.

The fit & finish is excellent, lockup is rock solid, the action is smooth, and the thumbstud has been improved.
I still wish they shipped with dual thumbstuds instead of having to send it in to have them installed, but that's just a minor annoyance, for me.

Most of the reviews and comments in regards to the AR/GB folders center around the size, and generally make no mention of the quality, which is a mistake...

RL: PERFECTLY stated!!! :D

My BT came in similar condition, sorta scratched...looking like it had been "tested" or something. Well, I'm quite anal about my things. One little scratch or imperfection drives me INSANE. I have a hard time sullying up pristine objects.

My Strider BT is the FIRST item I've EVER gotten that has made me want to USE it as hard as I could! You know, like chop my neighbors old Buick in half, help the construction workers down the street cut the street apart...:D

I don't have any experience with the older folders, but my recently acquired S30V AR was flawless.

If you have any issue with your knife when you get it, just send it back to Strider. They stand behind what they create. There are lots of quality service stories in their forum.
