My review of the bladeforums passaround Strider AR, large liner lock tactical knife.

Specs:
Length closed: 5.43”
Length open: 9.23”
Blade, from handle to tip: 3.80”
Blade width: 1.59”
Blade thickness: 0.188”
Edge length: 3.18”
Liner thickness: 0.97”
Handle thickness: 0.71”
Handle thickness, with clip: 0.94”
Weight: 8.85 oz.

Titanium frame, BG-42 blade, G-10 handle slabs, titanium clip.

Overall the knife is a well built, obviously solid liner lock folder. In spite of the blade having a very thick (0.030”) edge, it sharpened up easily (secondary bevel is about 20 per side and held an edge well. I would expect no less as this knife has a Bos heat treat. Since this is a passaround knife, it has seen some wear, but I think this is a positive as the G-10 has nice finish to it, rough enough for grip, but not abrasive. I have a spanner wrench and hex key which fit the pivot, so I tightened it up some. It opens and closes very smoothly with no discernable play in any direction. The handle and blade have all sharp edges (besides the cutting edge) nicely beveled. Overall workmanship is very good, grind lines match up well, not perfect (small misalignment at the transition from the bevel to the flat at the heal of the blade), transition from G-10 to titanium liners is very well matched and the blade is nicely centered. All metal surfaces appear to have a bead blasted finish, which is in keeping with the intended use of the knife.

The knife seems to be designed around the idea of a folding prybay as the edge is quite thick, the blade is very wide and heavy and it has a very large pivot. It also has a very large grip area. This worked fairly well for me if I was wearing gloves, but it is too large for extended use bare handed. With gloves, however, it opened and closed easily.

I didn’t have enough time for any extended cutting tests, but I suspect edge holding should be just fine. Cutting ability on anything which binds is moderately low, but that is the trade-off for its lateral strength.

Due to its size, the only place I found it to be comfortable to carry for an extended period of time in inside the waistband, but it was fine there when wearing jeans.

Cool! Thanks for the review. FYI, the blade would actually be a bit longer, as it has been reprofiled after a tip break.

Thanks for tightening up the pivot. There used to be a spanner wrench that went with the knife, but it was lost on the last passaround.

I look forward to seeing more reviews of this knife.

Daniel
