I recently got a new strider sng cc and over a couple weeks it has formed a little side to side blade play. I want to adjust the pivot but the loctite is impossible to get through. I have read that using a soldering iron works but I don't have one and have no expierence with it. I'm planning to pick one up tomorrow. Any tips? Also, I have all the proper tools to take it apart. The Pivot tool and the right size Allen wrench. If there are any other was to break the loctite that would be really helpful.

Thank you,
George

I have heard that hot water will work. Just be sure to dry it well after you get it loosened. if it's new it should be blue, if it's used I hope it isn't red loc-tite. a lighter would work too, but exercise caution.

I may be wrong, but it is probably a Torx screw head instead of an allen head. Just apply the soldering iron tip to the screw head to heat it up and then try to unscrew it. Be careful and try not to ruin the screw head with too much torque.

I have always had good luck with a small soldering iron. I stick the tip into the hole that goes all the way through the pivot screw and leave it there for a few minutes until the entire screw is warm/hot. Then I put it aside and try if the screw can be loosened. If not, put iron back for a while and try again. Sometimes they seem to apply a lot of Loctite, so it might take a while for the heat to break the bond.
I'm pretty sure the Strider pivot screws are still regular Allen hex keys and not Torx.
