I just got a couple strider SnG's and am wondering how on earth you loosen/tighten the pivot. It looks like a spanner bit of some sort is needed, but I don't have much luck looking for one online. Anyone have any ideas on how to tighten the pivot?

A large flathead screwdriver

PSD makes a nice tool( they also have a combined Strider/Hinderer tool), you can also find them on ebay or make your own with a dremel
The lock side is a hex, so if it isn't too tight that may be all you need.

Gotta say that’s a pet peeve of mine. Don’t have any striders but do have a few hinderers. Having to use a driver on both sides of the pivot is such a pain in the a$$. Especially with a spanner bit. I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t press pivots in or use locked in pivots. Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t understand why any knife would have a free spinning pivot except for crk which I get because of the pivot design.

I've used a tool that I got from my grandpa's toolset when he passed. I'm having a little bit of a hard time finding what exactly to call it, but it looks like it's called something like a "bicycle headset spanner tool" upon searching for it's name, however it's a multitool configured something like feeler gauge tool, and instead of the "feelers", a bunch of little spanners fold out.

So basically, now you have 2 problems... You have to decipher my cryptic message, and then you still find your tool. 😜🍻

I had one years ago. Went to the kitchen drawer, found a fork with two tines that matched up and bent the other two tines out of the way. Worked well enough.

Take a look at that. Will most likely clear up and questions you might have.

If you enjoy those knives enough you can invest in a decent tool/setup to service them.

None of those tools are available. They appear to be sold out across the country unless im missing something.

That's too bad. It looks like you will have some blade play or hard to open knives.

Anyone else who has the same knife and a will to do a minor hand work could do a slight modification on a flat screw driver. On the other side of the pivot he would just use a hex bit.

You know what....type ''Strider SNG/SMF Pivot Removal Tool'' in your internet browser and you will get some hits.
As I see one piece is still available from eBay. Aliexpress also has some on stock. Also available at Etsy (2 on stock). Looks like this tool is also available at Amazon. Man; I'm doing search for you. A beer or two would be nice ;)

Not sure if it sold but here you go
Huh...$65 for two small bits. I suppose this is original tool made of the finest US steel and machined in US tool shop in very closed tolerances.
I would say such premium knives deserve the most quality tool you can get.
Aliex****s version for $5 is probably made of cheap gummy chinese steel and in such tolerances it would only damaged the pivot screw.

Take a wide tip screwdriver and a Dremel with a cut-off wheel. Cut two slots so it makes the tips with a center guide. Sand and polish to shape if you want fancy.
A cheap pocketknife with the tip cut off and ground as above would make a folding spanner tool.
