I've been looking at a couple of strider knives (SMF/SNG) and I was wondering how the pivot it constructed and adjusted. It appears to be unadjustable from the images I've seen.

A spanner key can be purchased from aftermarket suppliers, like Peter Atwood, who is immensely popular for his keychain tools - and therefore hard to get.

The SnG uses Loctite on the threads, I understand soaking in hot water is necessary to loosen the bond. Once free, the pivot can be adjusted to the user's taste. My SnG has been going hard for aobut two years now, and I haven't needed to mess with it. Most knives don't get out of adjustment when used responsibly. At least the screw pivot allows adjustment every few years or so.

My AR's use the same pivot and I ended up having to boil them to get the loctite loose enough to unscrew the pivot. Of course I did not have a the spanner wrench and had to use a cloth to hold it firm while using the allen wrench to unscrew the bolt, but once broken free, it came out very easy.
