ive noticed on the exchange forums alot of people are willing to trade down from there normal SNG to a PT. is it discontinued? is there something special about it? i thought it was just the regular SNG or SMF but smaller. so whats with all the demand for it? im guessing i missed something when reading about it.

No, it hasn't been discontinued, and there's nothing special/different about it: like you said, it's the same basic design as the SnG and SMF except in a smaller size. And if anything it's easier to get than the SnG, which was sold out at most Strider dealers until a few weeks ago when the latest batch hit.

So I'd say it's just a coincidence that you're seeing more of those threads than usual. It may also simply be that some people who have multiple SnGs -- I'm pretty sure it's Strider's most popular folder -- are deciding they want to trade one of them away and give the PT a try.

good point. most of the guys i did talk too had more then one SNG.

The PT is basically popular because it's the least expensiive and easiest to carry of the Strider 3-some.
However, most consider them to be much smaller than expected once in hand.

Yes - it's almost under the minimum size for decent ergos, IMO - and I do not have huge or meaty hands.

Yep, when I first held one at Blade a couple of years ago it really suprised me at how small it was. Didn't fit my hand well at all.

Check Plazacutlerys website. It says: "12/29/11 I just talked to Josh and no PT parts are ordered at this time. So my guess there will be none for the next 6-9 months! Just a guess on my part. He said there maybe a little update to it!"

To bad, it is a nice knife...

Yeah they aren't making any more. Looks like the mini-SJ75 is replacing it. It's a small folder but it also has the same cutting length of the SnG.

That sucks. My PT CC is one of my favorites. Small, but fits great in your hand. Best use of a choil ever.

Oops, nevermind what I said. The strider guys said they just aren't making any for a while, but it's not discontinued and they'll resume sometime in the future.
