Strider PT detent grating

Hey guys just got a 2013 strider pt with the 3 pin pivot. The knife is super smooth action but the only problem is I can hear the detent ball grating everything I open and close it. I polished the tang where the detent ball travels and thought that would make it stop but it didn't the knife opens so smooth though, it just bugs me that I can hear it grate so much. My small sebenza I can't hear anything and it smooth. What could be causing it? Thanks guys

Try a little pencil lead on the trail it travels. That may smooth it out a bit.

im almost certain that it just needs to be cleaned out and broken in by playing with it (open and close like your thumb is spastic while watching a movie)

Hey guys I have been greasing it with the crk grease and at first when I put it on it makes the sound go away but maybe a day later it always starts making the sound again

I just ran into this with my SnG.
Break it in with no lubrication. I did this for approximately a month. It will be gritty and annoying.

Then put a small dab of lubricant in the detent track. Mine has been smooth as glass for a few weeks now, with a single application of lube. No more squeaking.


Actually, I replaced my steel detent with a ceramic one, but I think my experience still applies.

I will try that I have used it for a while but it still has not really stopped squeaking will try without any grease. Hopefully it works it's rather annoying that it is so smooth but squeaks constantly.

Polish the detent! Or even better, do as Nullity did and replace the detent with a ceramic ball.
