Since it's sold I can now state that I do not understand the concept of a PT knife, unless I'm misinterpreting it.

What do you mean? Too small? I much prefer small knives for every day tasks and it pains me to have sold this one. I actually much preferred the ergonomics of this knife to the small Sebenza insingo I had.

Oh does PT stand for petite? Gotcha, I was under the impression that strides was targeted as some sort of military knife and when I see PT my brain automatically thinks of PT.. Lol, physical training, of which there is no need for a knife.

It's not like strider hides the size of the knife...... That said its a nice knife but really quite small. It a nice second knife to carry, well made and tough

I wasn't involved in the creative process but I'm pretty sure the concept was for it to cut things and then fold away when you were finished. The clip was so you could secure it to your pocket.

No, I get it now, PT is for Petite. I was confused cos it's not the abbreviation that I was thinking.

No, PT is for physical training. IIRC, it's supposed to be a small knife that you could carry on your person when wearing PT gear.

Ok, then back to wear I started.

I have no need of opening boxes and have ways PTd in rather large groups sometimes running through neighborhoods but is a knife defense for something that 20 or so Marines aren't?

I wouldn't feel like running around with a knife clipped to shorts or PT shirt.

I love mine...

:) Best post of the thread so far..

If you like it, you like it. More power to you, I just don't get the need for PT knives or any other type of knife at any other gym.

If you need a knife for protection, get better friends. I don't/won't work out alone, not motivated.

Strider makes folders in different sizes...to suit different sizes of hands, occupations, expected uses, degree of heavy-duty expected... It all seems very logical. And yes, I've had quite a few PT's among their other models.

A knife for every occasion?

I use a Techno, personally. Doesn't 'print' against tight or damp clothing as badly as a full-size, and it's both small and tough enough that I'm comfortable lending it briefly without causing a panic or getting it back in multiple pieces.
